Hi can anyone tell me why my new K1100lt wont start? all the dash lights come on but thers no sound from the fuel pump and nothing happens when i push the starter no click from the solinoid no nothing.

Is the side stand switch No.1 suspect?

cheers

ah, there is nothing as satisfying as a quick fix Wink

Do you plan to repair or replace the switch (you have to remove two of the mainstand bolts, which are likely corroded) ?
if not, simply cut the wires to the sidestand switch about 1" AFTER the loom connector (between the connector and the switch).

Strip the wires, twist together and solder for a permanent fix.
Failing that, use a 3amp electrical connector (aka chocolate block in UK), and wrap with gaffer tape to keep the damp out.

enjoy

Yep, but you can buy a 25 Watt soldering iron for less than that Wink

It looks & is just a microswitch with a long lever bolted to a plate. You will find it on the Nearside (UK) up above the sidestand. If you lie on the deck & look up at the sidestand pivot, as you move the sidestand through it's arc, you will hear a faint click. That's the switch. Should have 2 green / summat else wires which end up on the battery side in a BIG connector.

If you look at your side stand you will see, way up underneath, a little chrome colored lever resting against the side stand. Kind of hard to
explain but if you put your bike on it's center stand, lay on your back,
and operate the side stand you'll see it. The wires they are talking about are located under the right side cover. On edit, Tim beat me on the keyboard. Very Happy And did a much nicer job of explaining himself!

Quick fix that worked on my LT: Mine was sporadically engaging. (Not a running issue for me since I jumped the wiring harness a long time ago and hooked up the switch to a flashing LED - but the stupid LED was bugging me.)

The switch was not getting triggered everytime. What I did to resolve this was put a short section of vacuum hose on the tang that pushes on the switch so that the swtich lever gets pushed in farther.
