I'm trying to figure this bike out. The VIN says that it's a '93 K11 RS (manufactured in Dec '92), but the model ID on the back say K100. The fairing config is also K100. The engine number says that it's a Dec '90 K100. Any speculation on what I've got? I'm thinking 2 bikes put together to make 1? Clear title. Engine number is 104EB 5090 2015 (in case the decode that I did is incorrect). Any and all help or speculation is appreciated. _________________ Larry

There are a couple VIN decoders here: http://www.k11og.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4716 Try again. You got the VIN from the frame, right? Not from the paperwork?
Sounds like a bike someone built from parts? _________________ Jim

Is the alve cover all black or striped?
Does it have an O2 snesor on th exhaust?
Is the exhaust square or round? (Assuming it';s BMW.) _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Bell1st you might have a K100RS 4V
http://bmbikes.co.uk/specpages/K100RS4valve.htm
Try to find some production dates and parts numbers on forks, fork bridges, wheels, etc., and use Real Oem to verify the model of the bike.

VIN on the frame and the paper work match and agree that it is a '93 K1100RS, but it looks like a K100 and my decode of the engine number says k100 as well. No Oxygen sensor (that I can see) on the round exhaust and the head covers are all black with BMW 4 valve in aluminum. Thanks for the help

No O2 sensor and the four valve spark plug cover point to K100RS4V. The K100RS4V had striped valve and cam covers though. Maybe someone patined them.

I really think that it's 2 bikes put together. Not that I'm too worried about it. I like the bike and the way it rides and performs, but I think that I'd like to sell and trade up to a K1100LT. At my age, I think I want a more upright riding position. _________________ Larry

I'd say you're probably right that it's a Frankenbike with a K100RS4V engine in a K1100 frame. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

The frame is definitely K1100 RS - K100 and K1100 LT has a folding handle instead of metal loop (IMHO looks bad on K11RS, I like the old style).
The fairing looks like K100RS.

Though the RS bikes certainly handle a bit more sporty, there's something about the motocop riding position of the LT that puts a smile on my face. I've been riding the LT lately (it's closer to the garage door these days) and there's something about turn entry on the LT that is really fun. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Even between my 2 LT's I have a preference to the '95.
Better ride, handling, runs smoother.
Even my passenger likes it better. _________________ Ride safe.

It's already been said - looks like someone had a major demise of their original 16V K11 motor and simply replaced it with a K100, keeping the K11 tranny.
Totally irrelevant to all but the anoraks and concours boys - ride the wheels off it.
I actually prefer my 8V Kays, can't put my finger on it?
My nearly completed Race Rep has 1987 chassis and power train. K11 RS complete front end and a 4.5" K11 rear, '09 Yamaha R6 [ modified ] fairng and early Yamaha R1 seat with handmade side panels! - I just don't care!
