For the past couple of years, I have recorded the mileage on my various bikes on Jan. 1 and totaled the mileage for the year.
2007 was a down year for me. Wet a lot of the year, a surgery that kept me grounded for two months, and a new car that captured my attention too much of the time. The K bike has been off road for about 3 months now for transmission troubles. The ST was in the shop for a month for transmission troubles (warranty), is there a pattern here? Here goes:
2007
K bike- 3249 miles
Ducati- 751 miles
R12ST- 8833 miles
Total- 12,833 miles
2006
K bike- 8578 miles
Ducati- 2364 miles
R12ST- 9416 miles
Total- 20,358 miles
How did you do?

Is that kilometers? It's still impressive for 6 months.

A bunch. More than some and less than others.
I stopped keeping track of miles when I started riding multiple bikes. Too much math. I used to keep logs of miles and gas when touring too - gave that up as well. Now I just ride and don't worry about it.
I got an email from Dave Swisher the other day. (I believe he's one of the first BMW-corporate-approved million-milers.) He told me that this year he put 29k on his 97 K1100LT and another 24k on his 96 K1100LT. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

the bug eye brick was on the back of my truck for about 27,000 miles in 07...
i would report the bikes mileage but since klinker busted my spedo in april it runs at 50% about 50% of the time... so im guessing about 12k total beyond klinkers 2.4k in his epic 2 day sprint...

Worst year in a long long time, 3,500 mls at the most, down from 30,000+ the previous few years.
EXCUSES ; Moved jobs, used to work 160 mls from home, now work 5 mls from home
She who must be obeyed broke 3 ribs, her wrist and her foot just below the ankle - all at different times - so I ended up driving the Big Blue Box for most of the year (Mainly to hospital appointments LOL)
At least I'm happy in the knowledge that things can only get better!! _________________ '95 K1100lt

I did about 9K. 5 of it from ME to MT and back, ...and was it fun! It sure was. I look for more miles this year and I'll increase the next year and I'll double that the year after. Shit, I won't know when to stop,at least I hope I won't.

I feel so ashamed.
You guys are what the rest of us brag about. BMW pilots are real riders not posers, especially K pilots. _________________ Mike Gullery

I ride two bikes and have never tracked mileage except for service intervals. I travel with work and only get to ride on the weekend. If I had to guess I think I rode about 7k miles last year. _________________ 2000 R1100RT

2007 wasn't a good year for me either. I rode 7257 miles. I usually ride 10-12K. 2/3 were on my K. _________________ Paul - '93 K11/12RS (sold), 2002 R1100S BCP and '03 RC51 KOG 29 |
