Hi

As the LT seem to be not to bad on gravel, I'm consider getting a second set of rims and tires with a bit more GS use pattern.
Any tips:
BTW. it's for trips like and rougher.
The LT feels a bit unstable with a couple of cm lose gravel or mud on the surface. Wink

I know of a couple riders that really like the Metzeler Tourance tires.

I followed one on some twisty paved roads and those tires seemed to stick well so you wouldn't be giving up much road performance. But they are dual purpose so unpaved surfaces would be better than dedicated road tires.

http://www.metzelermoto.com/web/catalog/moto/moto_catalogo_schedaDescription.page?categoria=/catalog/moto/enduro_street/none&vehicleType=MOTO&product_id=877487&uri=/metzeler/en_IT/browser/xml/catalog/moto/EnduroStreet_Tourance.xml&menu_item=/products/catalog/enduro_street

I see that they do not have a front tire that would fit an LT. However there is a "rear" tire in 18" size that could probably be run on the front but in the reverse rotation.

Good luck with your search.

Another thing to keep in mind, most dual sport tires will only have 1/4-1/2 the life of road tires. In most cases they will grip the road better, since they are softer compound tire. I always ran Dunlop D607's on my Strom and never had any issues other than I could never get more than 5500 miles out of the rear tire and the front always wanted to follow grooves in the road.
