Put in new kit.
It leaked badly initially but after short run it improved.
Several thousand miles later it still loses some coolant.
After about 500 miles it took 50cc to top it up to the neck.
Should it be topped up to the very top.
I notice now that the expansion tank if filling above the max line.
Any suggestions.
If I have to I can redo it.
This time I'll get a guy to press in the big metal seal unit.[/u]
The annoying thing being, it might not have needed seal renewal. It was the top 2 bolts caused mess they were loose!! _________________ 1994 K1100 LTSE + Blackbird |

The cooling system on these bikes are like the system in your auto with the expansion tank.
Once you get all of the air burped out(thru the expansion tank) the fill level at the main cap(under the fuel tank) should be completely to the top. You should also only be adding coolant at the expansion tank at this point based on the min/max level while on the center stand.
This will allow for the coolant to flow to/from the expansion tank as needed when the engine goes thru it's heating/cooling cycles.
Is your expansion tank level increasing constantly, or only when you were adding coolant at the main pressure cap.
Have you had any coolant drain out of the expansion tank overflow? _________________ Ride safe.
