|
|
Hi All,
Having just bought a K1100LT from 1996.
Has anybody ever fitted a K1100RS front fender to a K1100LT?
I prefer the trimmed look of the RS-fender rear-section.
Is there a functional reason to the 2 big side-sections on the LT-fender or are they only esthetic? _________________ “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! It helps to keep the road crap of the rest of the bike.
With the RS I suspect the airflow will take it past the bike rather than the width of the front trapping it. _________________ 1986 K75S Professionally resprayed in Nightfire Metallic Red (non BMW colour) and refurbished wheels.

The fork brace, fork brace cover and front brake lines are very different between the RS and LT so it may or may not be a straight swap.
You might also want to get some RS fork reflectors since on the LT the front reflectors are double-stick taped to the rear fender half whereas on the RS they are mounted to the sides of the forks.

In Europe the reflectors are not required so that's not an issue.
My main concern is if the assembly and bolt pattern is the same on both Fenders.
Whether is't a good idea to swap the fenders time will tell I suppose.
I was just wondering if the side flanges are only a styling cue or if they are actually functional. _________________ “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! My opinion is that they're mostly style vs. function. Most of the crap that flies off of the front tire is from the tread. _________________ 93 LT (x2)
