|

The K1100's have dummy switch covers in the upper center panel, two on each side of the reading light. Has BMW ever sold working switches for those positions? Has any third party sold them?
If so, is there a part number or web URL? Does anyone have any of these to sell? _________________ To err once is human. To do so repeatedly is incompetence.

If you're looking for used ones then R bikes of the era used the same switches. However, they usually have shorter leads so you'll need to get the soldering iron out to lengthen the wires. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I found one NOS in Finland, of all places. Still in the original bag. Should be here this weekend or early next week. _________________ To err once is human. To do so repeatedly is incompetence.

What would it cost to ship a switch insert to Germany? I assume it would be a simple first class envelope? Also, if I put the fog light switch insert, can I insert a bulb for lighting? Are those OEM switches lighted? If so, which bulb goes in there? _________________ To err once is human. To do so repeatedly is incompetence.

Aren't there any BMW dealers in Germany? Seems like that would be a good place to buy switch inserts.
Only one of the OEM switches was ever backlit. The early hazard switches had a tiny light bulb in them.
It's possible to add LED backlighting to the switches. I've done it on several of my K bikes.

Yes, you're right. Closer inspection reveal what looks like a bulb socket is just a hole into the cavity where the connections live.
What about shipping to Germany for the fog light insert? Can you do a first class letter envelope for that? The dealers in Germany claim they no longer have *any* parts for the K bikes. I kid you not. _________________ To err once is human. To do so repeatedly is incompetence.
