I know the back cup comes off, but has anyone opened up the glass face to clean it up, mine is really grubby. I have a feeling the PO had the back cup off for some reason for a length of time, dust, fine sawdust stuff, etc.
Bugs me.

Someone posted a link on the forum for a place that fixes those gauges. If I get time, I'll look for it. _________________ Jim

I usually just replace the gauges with VDOs. Do a search here to find out more. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Thanks for the reply Duck, I'll see what I can find out.
VDO's, yep ran a head temp gauge on my Duc 900 SS back in the 70s when I lived in CO, wide open roads back then.

I'll keep looking... _________________ Jim

thanks Jim. After reading much on this forum and others, I think I am going to try the VDO route, cheap enough for the temp sensor, about $30. _________________ 96 K1100 LT--gone

If you're going the VDO route:
Note that the VDOs also come with a chrome rim if you are so inclined.

Thanks Duck for the schematic, just changing the temp gauge for now.
It seem like you have been around the K11's for a bit, so, what is that "clip" on the cover of the right fairing storage bin for? _________________ 96 K1100 LT--gone

Yea, and when you have the left cover fastened in that clip, you cannot see the temp gauge....... _________________ Ride safe.

But you get a red overheat light so you have that going for you...
Most of the temp/gas gages delaminate on the lens which causes the cloudiness. Watch eBay and sometimes they show up in mint condition. _________________ 2014 R1200RT Water Cooled

Ahhh.
Seems like that the VDO coolant temp gauge with stock sensor is fairly accurate, can see the thermostat open at about 183* or so.

My 2 cents, install a 160 or 170 degree thermostat. There is a post here I did on it. _________________ 2014 R1200RT Water Cooled
