Greetings,
Do I need the air-duct/air-intake tube on my K1100 if I have removed the fairing. I assume it is there, purely because there isn't enough air flow around the air box with the fairing in place and the duct/tube ensures sufficient air get into the air box.
Many thanks |

I think it may be detrimentsl to remove it. The K75c bikes nad to an extent the K75S have the air tubes but ar fastened securely at the top. An open hole is just begging for some oik to put something in that should not be if the bike were left unnatended.
I am not sure but there may be issues with the air flow meter too. _________________ 1997 K1100LT

You'll be fine without it.
The only issue I can see is riding in the rain and getting water puddling in the bottom of the air box.
And 4V Ks don't have a mass airflow sensor, just an air temp sensor. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Greetings,
Thank you for your advice. I have had it removed for a while now and there has been no problems.
I am now looking at removing the airbox completely and putting some small cone filters onto each intake. What will the effects of removing the air temp sensor be? Do I need to place it somewhere else.
Many thanks
