|
|
Hi Guys I’m getting to the business end of my Café build on my 1994 k1100lt. So it is Exhaust time and I would love to know what my options are, I’m a bit of a noob when it comes to exhausts. So a few Questions
Currently I have seen the Bsk collector which will end up costing close to $500 by the time it lands in Aus. Is there any more affordable collectors that I could get. I would love to get a new collector as this give me a large range of options for Slip on’s Etc.
Are there any other options I have that give me an affordable option to customise the exhaust.
Any help to put me on the right track would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Perfect Robert, Thank you very much, I will contact Malcolm now, exactly what I was looking for.
Do you no if the header pipes are the same on my 1994 k1100lt as the ones Malcolm makes |

I'm sorry, I don't know. That's a perfect question to ask Malcolm though. _________________ - Robert

Do you just want to make more noise or have some other objective?
The Motronic CPUs on K11s are purposefully factory detuned to meet the optional 100HP Euro-max at the time. From my experience, an aftermarket exhaust will not make a noticeable difference in power.
I have both Staintune and Remus exhausts on my K11s. The Remus does sound cool without being loud but I doubt that it contributes to performance.
And if you want something faster then just buy a different bike. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Thanks for the info Flying Duck. The main reason I would like to change the exhaust is for looks. The current exhaust is just to big to go with the look of my Cafe racer K1100. I would also like a slightly louder exhaust. Performance isn't such a big deal for me, currently the bike has enough power for me.
On a side note I have tried contacting Malcolm in NZ but havn't had any luck. Does anyone know if he is still making collectors and how I can contact him.

Resurrecting an older thread.
Any opinions on or experience with reducing heat by using an aftermarket exhaust without a catalytic converter?
And on a different thought, does the complete 8 valve exhaust system fit on a 16 valve K-RS? _________________ John & Cathy

My RS has a Remus and my LT a Staintune. Neither of those have a cat. No heat change.
The thermostat in the radiator determines the temperature of the cooling system and therefore the heat in the engine compartment - that mostly comes from air flow through the radiator. A thermostat that runs at a lower temperature would run the engine at a temperature below its designed operating temperature.
A 2V exhaust MIGHT bolt up to a 4V but I suspect that the amount of back pressure (a very important aspect of exhaust design) would not be right.
Just my .02 but I think that the best solution would be to minimize the size of the relay box, run a big pipe through the hole that leaves with a secondary fan and pipe heat out below and behind the rider.
Either that or just take the fairing off and run naked. _________________ 93 LT (x2)
