Hi
My -94 K11LT broke down while crossing the bridge from Denmark to Sweden with a load sound and blinking charge lamp.
Did some wrenching taking out the alternator and found out that the rotating connector from engine to alternator was very stucked. Seems that the bearing has gone - blocked.
Next step to take the engine out ( with tranny ) and split engine - flywheel bell - tranny to see what's happened in the rear part of the engine.
Anyone else experienced this fault?
PS. have a spare engine to merge with the engine to get it running again. |

This is my experience with that problem.
Advize you to remove the frame from the engine, not the engine from the frame. It's easier. _________________ - Robert

Did so see: http://www.flyingbrick.de/board/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=32115 .
From the tread above;
-----------------------------------
The drivetrain are in parts and frame hanging above.
Found the fault, it's on alternator/starter freewheel axis, the innner roller bearing had gone and by this the axis was wobbeling in the end som much that it got stucked to the starter axis. Cleaning som theeth in the starter axis.
Have to make a new custom made seat for the inner pin roller bearing.
Or install a replace engine. Will be this.
After 20+kkm the bike got to a hault after making a lot of noise and loss of alternator charging.
Cause of fault: could be that I damage the inner pin rĂ³ller bearing of the alternator/starter free wheel axis. Was in a bit of hurry putting the engine/bike together.
Next steep merging the two engines and installing new roller bearing with a new seal for the alternator/starter freewheel axis ( the outer bearing ).
The original engine has 170kkm while the replacement engine has 40kkm though the cylinder head of the replacement engine has leaking valve sealings so I have to replace them. Guess that the valve sealings can be replaced when the engine are installed. Right?
--------------------------
Comment was in a hurry 2y ago when renovating the starter free wheel unit doing short cuts in installing the flywheel bell this are probably the cause that the engine broke down after 20+kkm. Bike has in total 170kkm.
The image are from that renovation 2 y ago but it's very similar to present state ond location of wrenching.

More info are coming. |
