Old topic once again but bear with me:
When I bought this red one the front Lasertec was brand new and the rear toast. Bought a new rear Lasertec and I'll manage this summer and some of the next as well.
My earlier LT/SE I also had Lasertecs. Front lasts OK but rear tends to go at around 6...7000 kms (4...5000 miles) or so.
There does not seem to be that many bias ply tyres available for LT anymore. I feel that Michelin Pilot Actives and Bridgestone BT-45 are both for lighter bikes - correct me if I'm wrong.
Pirelli has Sport Demon available in stock BMW sizes
Continental has ContiGo! in stock sizes
I know that switching to radial tyres seem to be what people do these days but I'd prefer to stick to bias ply for the time being.
Does anyone of you ladies and gentlemen perhaps have experiences of above mentioned Pirellis and Continentals? _________________ K1100LT -93 | ex K1100LT/SE -94 |

Hi Finn, I ran a set of Sport Demons on my K75. I thought they were a great tire, sticky both wet and dry. I think I ran them a bit under-inflated and had to replace them around 5500 miles. _________________ 1990 K75C

Don't know about where you live but here in the US many freeways are grooved for rain dispersion. In my experience, any tire with a center groove will tend to track on that and give the bike a wandering feeling. Not particularly dangerous but definitely annoying IMO. Based on the tread patterns pictured I'd go with the ContiGos.
Radials are newer technology with much better performance on both cars and bikes. Do you run bias ply tires on your car too? _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Says Location : Finland there under avatar.
Tarmac roads here do vary from excellent to holy h-ll conditions.
Thanks for the comments. Sort of gathering information at this point to know what to do after Lasertecs are done. _________________ K1100LT -93 | ex K1100LT/SE -94 |
