On my old K75, kill switch on, fuel pump can be heard, second or two later, shuts off, =system pressurised. perfect. But my K1100, fuel pump will stay on, never switches off. Bike starts fine. but I am wondering this is not right, and might be a sign of other things to come.. Relay stuck??
Anybody come accross this ??

The relay would be something you could check, but not likely.
If it was stuck the pump would stay on even with the ign key off, as the +power for the relay is thru fuse #6, straight from the battery.

Even what you are saying about your 75 doesn't sound right, from what I have heard of the 75 fuel systems. The pump relay doesn't energize until the starter button is pressed, no pre-start priming.

Sounds like the fuel pressure regulator may have failed on your 1100, Reg.
I would pull the vacuum line off the regulator and turn the key on. If you get fuel out the vacuum line, you know the FPR diaphragm is leaking.

The FPR have nothing to do with this, it isn't any sensor reading the pressure in the fuel system.
The pressure build up before start is managed from the Motronic unit with a predetermined timer function.
The pump will run this amount of time regardless of what the pressure ends up at.

When the Motronic reads the signal from the hall sensors (ie. engine is turning) the pump will run continuously.

PS. It isn't any vacum connection on the FPR on the K11's.

The Motronic unit grounds the coil on the fuel pump relay, which then closing the contacts.
I would guess that the problem is in the Motronic unit itself.
But far less likely....the wire between the relay and Motronic is shorted to ground.

Don't know how old this problem is.........what I have in mind is if any PO have done some "adjustements" in the wiring system.

And I do agree with Scott about the K75.

Not to nitpick but on a K75/100 the ICU, not the start button, turns on the fuel relay via a yellow/brown wire when the ICU gets signals from the HES to know that the engine is turning. This allows you to "bump start" a K75/K100.
