Last month the problem was the bike would cut out...replaced the Hall Effect Sensor with new. Didn't fix the problem. Changed out the computer for another used one...it worked GREAT!!!!
Put 1500 miles on it over the last couple weeks.... today it decided to stop running, and unlike the last time.....after I let it set for 15 to 20 minutes...it starts...but you have to have the throttle set to wide open.
It seems to keep running better when it is in a lower geark, and wound out to around 4000 RPM
Any ideas? _________________ Ken in Denver |

You should read the computer error codes. _________________ I am not a number, I am a free man.

fuel filter is new, and the tank had been emptied.
All checked electrical connections were fine. I am an electrician, so trust me...I know that doesn't mean they all are.....but in Colorado we don't have much moisture, and those stay pretty clean.
I will look for an error code explanation today.
Thanks!!! It sometimes takes me a while, but with you guys help, I have always found the problem. _________________ Ken in Denver |

I had an engine temp sensor that sort of did that same thing. Sometimes run fine for a few days and then cut out when hot.
There are two of them - one for the temp gauge only and one for the computer. _________________ Dave Norris KOG 248

The computer one is on top of the engine at the front. _________________ I am not a number, I am a free man.

I recently replaced temp sensor but didn't solve similar problem with my K. Tried a different Motronic, heat sink paste on ignition amplifier, fuel filter, connection cleansing, no help.
Now when I start the bike, it runs for a few seconds, smokes a little and seems to flood itself out and die. Need to find someone with the knowledge and equipment to totally review the ignition/FI system. _________________ '93 K1100LT

Do either of you have the means to check the fuel pressure?

| Check the fuelpump strainer. I just had a k11rs that was doing something similar. It was a torn fuel strainer. It was sucking up small particles and seizing the pump intermittently. This a comon problem too, ive had it happen on other older k's too.. |
