So, there I was having built this really sweet looking cafe racer sort of bike. Trying to ride it around and getting my hands deadened in the process. I've had quite a few K1100's and this one is the worse for handle bar vibrations. I had fitted the bike with Renthal High super bike bars at a hundred quid including postage halfway round the world. Took them off and put the LT bars back on. Just horrible. Now I know what I am doing around bikes and this one is a bitch. All settings perfect. Goes like a rocket. Handles beautifully having had 55 kilos taken off it. But the buzz. Awful. I was considering getting rid of it and doing the same with a K75.. Reading around the net I came across a guy that had filled the bars with a non setting builders goo. That sounded like a sane idea. So in desperation I gave it a go. Squirted the bars full of Sitkaflex 711 non-setting mastic. (Heavy black sticky as shit rubber stuff) I had to drill a tiny hole in the middle of the bars to let the air out. I just test rode it and I have to say it worked. Quite an acceptable level of vibration, I have grips that look good but don't absorb anything. I don't even have to change them. So, Result....Highly recommended....

Thank!

That only works if you don't have heated grips. I have to say there isn't any terrible vibration on mine. You've synched the throttle bodies?

Oh Dear , I would prefer cooled grips! I expect Virginia gets a little cooler than Melbourne. I quit riding after 100 F ...But yes the " fill the bars " trick only works without heated grips... I synced EVerything, There must be some imbalance in the motor. I was going to strip it and look/measure. But now I wont bother.........

There's all sorts of stuff you can fill handlebars with: sand, buckshot, etc....

Hmmm. I think buckshot will turn to dust with the vibrations. Sand might work? Lot less messy than sticky black stuff. BUT the advantage is that the sticky black stuff actually has an effect.... I wish I had heard / thought of the sand one though... There's no going back from where I am....
