Just curious as to whether I should be worried or not?

I was out on a great ride today and used the throttle screw on a long section of motorway as a cruise control.

As I came off the motorway I slackened off the screw to regain control of the throttle, as I normally do, and the throttle completely cut off. I ended up coasting to a halt, luckily on to the slip road by then!

The throttle seemed completely disconnected, and I assumed the cable had snapped, however I had a fiddle, unscrewed the adjuster at the handlebar end, put it back together again and hey presto, all worked fine!

I am now nervous of using the throttle screw again, in case this recurs. Has anybody come across this before? I rode the remaining 50 miles home with no problems but don't know if I should be worrying about the throttle cable giving out the next time I go for a ride...

I would also like to thank the two young lads on 125's who made the effort to stop and make sure I was OK, still on L Plates but obviously showing the right spirit!

Interesting, all the screw does is apply friction to the twistgrip. Had one on my 95 LT, sadly not fitted on the current 97 LTSE Highline.
Did the engine continue to run at tickover or just stop ? My guess is the engine kill switch would benefit from a clean, known to be temperamental & VERY close to the big ally screw.

I rather suspect I hit the kill switch whilst loosening it, having discussed on one of the other forums.

Thanks for the feedback!
