Gidday Folks,
Nearly got the bike all sorted and ready for registration soon but I have an issue with my side covers.
When I brought the bike the lugs on the backs of both side covers were snapped off and broken and all that I have on each side is the steel frame mounted pin with rubber end on each side of the bike and also the 2 x brackets under the tank on each side.
Could someone please post a picture of the back of a side cover so I can see what and how they attach and then I can make something up to suit.
Also a close up photo of a side cover on the bike as there seems to be a fair amount of movement as to where it should be correctly position in relation to the tank and seat gaps etc., mine just don't seem to sit in there neatly.
Oh and how about spare ones, anyone want to sell a spare pair?? if you had them, but I gather they are rather rare as I rang a few wreckers here in Oz, lots of K100 ones but no K1100, just asking..
Any help would be great.

Grant,
Gwen (Shoganai) has repaired her sidecover from the same sort of damage.
Might want to PM her- may take her a day or 2 to respond if she is on her shift rotation at her hospital.

IF you search on my name as author you will find a post on what i did to mine a year or so ago. It is titled "Another LT side panel repair"
If I was smart enough to remember how to copy and paste the link there, you wouldn't have to work so hard.
I just checked it and the file is still there. _________________ "It's not what people know, it's that they know so much that just ain't so!" (Apologies to Will Rogers)

Grant,
do a search for "side cover fixing" on this forum. I replaced the broken tabs with tool clips that I bought from Bunnings hardware. You need to add a spacer (washers will do - I had a mate machine up some aluminium spacers in his lathe). Cut off the broken tabs flush. Drill a hole in the middle of the tab to mount the tool clip and spacer.
cheers,
Andrew |

Gidday,
Thanks for the links and photos, both good ideas but unfortunately all of my plastic blocks on the backs of both side covers have been completely removed and buffed flat.
Will take a trip to the hardware through the week for a bit of "look see"..
Cheers, you've been a great help
