Having just received loads of help with an ABS problem (going to Maplins on saturday to buy an LED) I was riding home this evening, just about home, turned on my right hand indicator and it stayed on, solid, not flashing. It would not cancel and even when i switched off the ignition and took out the key, it still stayed on. I had to pull fuse number 3 to switch it off. I am assuming that the lamp control unit which incorporates the relay has died but if anybody has any other ideas, i would ,as always , like to hear them. This forum is priceless and i REALLY appreciate all replies from my fellow beemer enthusiasts. Thanks guys and gals !!

First of all you need an LED that runs on 12volts. Suggest Red as It shows best in bright light. Test it across your battery to prove polarity (you won't knacker it if wrong way round) then solder 2 foot of flex with a croc (alligator) clip on the end to the lead that was to the Negative battery terminal when tested.

As for the indicator fault. My 2nd K11 did that as I turned into the drive after buying it in Hinckley (40 mile drive). Tank off, slapped the relays with plastic screwdriver handle, never did it again.

Have had the same problem with the indicators. Especially on hot days.
Replaced the indicator relay in the housing under the tank with one from Ebay and problem solved.

yea, mine would do the same thing. After a year or so of slapping the relay I broke down and replaced it.

Kisan makes replacement relays which will add a self cancelling feature if you wind up needing to replace it. It also makes your turn signals running lights so they are on all the time, as well as a 4 way flasher. Its a pretty nifty unit, I installed on on my K several years ago. They are $119.95 which I believe is cheaper than the BMW part. Here is the website: https://www.kisantech.com/index.php?cat_id=4

This might be worth looking at if the obvious things to look at don't work out. I had similar issues with random operation of the indicators both ignition on and ignition off. It turned out to be a short between two wires going to the hazard flasher switch on the handlebar pad. I resoldered these under the switch and all was good again.

Welli rmoved the tank and the relay box cover, replaced the fuse (3) and turned on the ignition and it was working again. I tested for abs fault codes and got a 3 flash code - front speed sensor changed it for a spare but still faulty any suggestions will be considered !!
