Got a problem. My bike failed it's mot as neither the parking or tail lights were working. When I checked, they both worked UNTIL I MOVED THE HANDLEBARS, when they both went out. The dip and main beams work normally, as does the brake light. It's the same on either 'on' position on the switch.
I'm thinking broken wire somewhere near the headstock as they work in a couple of places, but anyone any ideas which wire (as in colour) as I have to get the bike back on the road urgently. I know it's going to need a proper repair but that will have to wait till I can take it off the road later this year.

I`ll guess your problem is in the wiring between the ignition switch and the harness.
The wire from the light switch to the ignition switch is grey/blue, and the wire from the ignition switch to fuse #2 (park/tail) is grey.
The switch part and wiring related to the steering lock you can get as a single part #61 32 2 305 292, £ 52,50 + VAT at motobins.
Also check this link.

If your tail/parking light wasn't working, your red ligt on the dash should have warned/indicated that it wasn't working?

Since the circuit is open before the BMU, it`s no signal input to it.
And the BMU "thinks" that the light switch is in the off position......ie no warning signal.
