I installed an aftermarket shock on my LT, supposedly from an RS...and it works fine. I think the lengths are the same, but you may want to research some more. _________________ 1997 K1100LT-SE

Just a word of caution with aftermarket shocks.
'93 and earlier bikes have abs 1, '94 and later bikes are abs 2.
The ABS 1 bikes will have a clearance issue with side mounted charge canisters on a shock because of the ABS unit location.
They will need remote mounted units, or shocks similar to the oem design. _________________ Ride safe.

380mm open [ eye-eye ] both bikes - in fact ALL paralever K1, K100 16V, K1100.
RAM shox don't have the problems with lumps sticking out ! You can now specify USD orientation for a slight oncost.
350mm for those of us vertically challenged ! Don't go ANY shorter, no matter what someone might say.
BTW - ALL RAM shox now come deep clear anodised for looks and long lasting protection - at no extra cost.
I've just finished working on the new [ 8mm silicone ] development of the RAM Power Leads [ plug wires ] and they've just completed long term road trials. ONLY available in Red - sorry.

Anybody here have any experience with the RAMShox? I'm considering options for my K1100LT. The RAMShox seem pretty reasonably priced.
I'm also considering just replacing the spring on the stock shock.

They KNOW their stuff.
I think mine is going on 4 years and 35,000 miles.
No issues, still looks and rides great!

I've got a Ram on one of mine as well, going on 2+ years now. If I was in the market to buy brand new I'd buy another one, no question....

I've had mine about 3 years and 35,000 miles. If it ever wears out I will indeed buy another.

Been away for a while on an enforced - "sit down and do nothing" regime.
I had a reccurance of a Kidney function degeneration from [ 3 years ago ] which has totally wiped out 2013 for any meaningful work [ in the garage ! ]
Under control again now, THEN my Doberman was diagnosed with a cancerous sarcoma !!!!! Successfully removed but the post op recovery has been [ still is ] a nightmare. The wound is accross the "shoulder", and refuses to heal up. At the worse it was 95mm accross [ 4" approx ]. With visits to the vets every 2 days [ since beginning of August ] for flushing / redressing - I'm now down to every 3 days and the wound has closed up to 60mm. They reckon by Christmas the wound will be OK to suture / staple.
So, work has all but come to a halt on my K100 Fighter - however the good news is that someone eventually DID make the front axle spacer and the 5 spoke K1200S / K1100 Fork front wheel conversion is finally done.
I'll update my thread in a week or two. Why post here ?
Just to let you all know that RAM shock sales for Kays is now over the 600 mark and ALL still with positive feedback.
Max mileage so far is a guy who is a courrier and does 100,000 miles a year average ! He WAS getting through 3 - 4 OEM shox a year ! Still on the first RAM and now with 130,000 miles and showing NO signs of distress!
Several people enquired about the possibility of rolling out the RAM model marque .............. so far Yamaha TR1 [ XV ] - and yes, I DO have one !!
Latest is for H-D Sportsters, although other H-D models in the pipeline.
Other's under prototype are for the Oilhead Boxer range [ fronts done ], and various "old" Jajanese Twinshock bikes - Honda, Kwacker etc.

I haven't measured mine but I do know that K1s use a different shock than the other 4V Ks.
K1 is part 33532310512.

Just a further headsup - Ben Kingham has won the BEARS Series outright [ 2013 ], winning all but a few races [ DNF ] with his RAM suspended K100 Racer.
Converted from a worn out old tourer, I supplied parts that I had developed for my Fighter and Realm supplied a rear off the shelf shocker and Goldline progressive front springs.
After winning several races in his innaugural year [ 2012 ] with a completely stock engine, the powers that be declared his K1100 forks illegal [ out of era ] and he was forced to retrofit K100 forks for this season. Once again, I developed a suitable Progressive front spring.
He also fitted an off the shelf "C" series RAM shocker for this season and his self tuned engine. The bike is otherwise remarkably stock - although exceedingly well built.
He is now producing Race Replicas based on K100 / 1100
Life in the old Bricks yet !!!!!
