OK, I give up, I pulled the switchgear apart to fix the clutch switch and I'm buggered if I can get it out! One seems to need a tube spanner with the side cut out to get it off, anyone tell me if there's a special tool or what size tube spanner to hack up!
The pin in the switch is stuck in and no amount of tugging (snigger snigger) and wd40 wants to dislodge it _________________ K1100RS '97

Should normaly be easypeasy with a 11mm open wrench, if not go mad with your biggest pliers and buy a new switch.

Hi, Drikko,
If Inge says it's 11mm, I'll believe him. I've done a couple of them and remembered it as 10mm, but I turned 64 yesterday and my memory isn't what it once was. To remove mine, I used a deep socket after I clipped the wires. I screwed the new one in finger tight and tried to tighten it further with pliers. I couldn't tighten it much, if any. I plugged the new wires into the wiring harness. Both times the switch worked fine and gave no trouble. I did not cut a groove nor slot into a socket; hand tight hasn't failed me yet. _________________ Ride Safe,

About memory and age........forget about the open ended......I was mixing up with the front brake switch on my K100, a deep socket seems to be the correct one for this.
But I can confirm that it is 11mm hex, sitting with a brand new switch and a vernier calipper on the table in front of me.

Awesome thanks, I hadn't thought of cutting the wires, that would work for me.
Will give it a go tonight. _________________ K1100RS '97

Cutting it is the easiest way.
It is the same switch as the front brake switch. _________________ I am not a number, I am a free man.

So I bought the 2nd hand clutch switch but only got around to putting it in last night, or at least I would have, had I been able to find it
Can someone tell me where it is! I searched the house and rather messy workshop but it didn't show itself. I asked the resident possum but nup, it didn't know....help! _________________ K1100RS '97

left fairing pocket? or a shirt pocket in the laundry. That's where I'd find it if it was my dilemma. _________________ '02 - GL1800

Gday Drikko
If you're still looking this usually works for me. STOP IT, get a mate over, show him a picture of the switch, offer a success fee, ( good night on the piss is appropriate) leave him to it and go to the pub. You've now removed your failed notions from the search, success is assured.
Good luck

You must sort your paperworks more often, if you don`t find your bike...you know where to look. |
