Good morning all...
Unexpected GREAT riding weather here in the Northeast USA... snow a week ago and now 75 degF, sunny and beautiful ! So a ride is in order, but battery it seems will not cooperate. ( time for a new one) Thinking of just using my "jumper" cables to get going, BUT then I think,, Hey, there is probably an EPROM in the Motronic or some 'solid state' something somewhere else, so a simple "jump" might do damage... Any thoughts on this, or the proper use of "jumper" cables with a K1100 ???
Best regards all,, HMSP-V is just a few weeks away !!....// Ernie in NH _________________ AMA,, American Deaf Bikers

Ernie- I would go ahead and "jump" from an auto battery with the donor engine switched off. I have with no bad results. _________________ John & Cathy

Good morning John...
Yep...! I think "donor engine switched off"... is always the rule due to the higher alternator supply voltage of a running auto vs the motorcycle. I was just unsure if the Motronic would tolerate a really high CCA battery jump from an automobile.. Sounds like it would be ok though, and will give it a go!
Very best regards...........// Ernie in NH _________________ AMA,, American Deaf Bikers

Sure no problem, you may just have to reset the ABS. _________________ I am not a number, I am a free man.

I jumped mine once from my wife's car battery when the battery left me stranded out. It started just fine and then a new battery was quick to follow.
I don't remember if her car was running or not(?), but I suppose it would be safer with it not, especially for a motorcycle's limited needs. _________________ Steve
