|
|
While I have my bike mostly apart for the spline lube (almost done!) I want to replace the fuel hoses.
What does it take to get to the fuel return hoses and the pressure regulator on a K11LT? What has to be removed to get there? Do I have to remove the air box or the radiator?
I have found the regulator but it appears hard to get there.
I already have the fairing lowers and the tank off.
Any advice much appreciated! _________________ Rod Kilduff

Rod,
When I did mine on the K1100RS I removed the airbox (prepare for a wresting match!)
BTW, I removed an amazing amount of sand and small road debris that had accumulated under the airbox, so doing that accomplished a couple things.
You are replacing the fuel line hoses with the proper ones, right? DAMHIK
Good to get the spline lube done, isn't it?

Get the "OETIKER" clamps and tool to do a proper job - no leaks permitted in this area. _________________ Dave Norris KOG 248

Why do a replacement with BMW hoses?
The BM ones have moulded hoses with the 90% elbows so I replaced them with a higher rated fuel injection 3m hose from my local auto joint.
Rerooted the bends out with my made hole in the rubber heat shield & replaced the clamps with the little ones which have the hex come phillips head on them. I replace them with stainless steel 4m socket heads of cause.
Did not replace the back fuel rail one. It is fine. Only one I would replace with BM's.
Put the change to better use. _________________ Yamaha TX650A

Thanks for the advice folks. I have fuel injector rated fuel hose sold by the foot, but I got it from the dealer.
John, I finished the spline lube part yesterday, got the brakes bled and flushed and buttoned her all up except for the plastic parts and the battery. I'll do that after I replace those hoses. _________________ Rod Kilduff

Well, I got the fuel hose replaced today. What a pain in the rear. It's pretty obvious that all this is done before the engine is bolted to the frame, or is it the frame getting bolted to the engine?
Of course the hardest part is getting the darned airbox out and back in!
I really like riding this thing but I hate working on it The good news is I don't have to do this stuff very often. My airhead requires more attention but it's easy to work on.
It's all part of the adventure! _________________ Rod Kilduff
