Hi, All,
For those who don't know me, I am 63 and have been riding a couple of years. My first BMW bike was (in 1977) a leftover '76 R90/6. My first K-bike was a '96 K1100LT (in 1997), then a couple of K75's, then a '95 K1100LT, then another couple of K75's. In June I was diagnosed with esophageal and stomach cancer, and have been fighting it since.

I finished the chemotherapy last Wednesday, then met with the oncologist on Thursday. He was happy with my progress, said my latest CT scan showed the thickening of the stomach wall was reduced and I now need to have surgery to remove the tumor. I have an appointment with the surgeon on Wednesday, and I expect a week or so after that, to have the lower part of my esophagus and the top part of my stomach removed. I'll post details when I know them.

I was working in the copper mine in Morenci, Arizona which is 240 miles from home. I had my K75RTP in a friend's garage about 50 miles from Morenci. Since I'm no longer in Morenci, I decided to bring the bike home. I drove home yesterday from my daughter's (610 miles) and today a friend and I drove to Thatcher, AZ. I felt great yesterday and today, so I got on the bike and rode it the 252 miles home. I haven't been on a bike since June when the cancer was diagnosed. It felt SO GOOD to be riding again. I may go out tomorrow and/or Monday, then on Tuesday I'll have to return to my daughter's near Dallas, TX to talk to the surgeon and prepare for the surgery. I hope I'll be recovered and feel good enough to ride to Hungry Mother V in May.

Friends, thanks for all your support! I'll keep you updated as things happen.

Hi, Al,
For the past 2+ months, I have been wearing a pump which gave me chemotherapy 24/7. The pump was removed; I felt a LOT better, so I did the ride. After tomorrow, I don't expect to be able to ride for a few months with the upcoming surgery and the recovery period. But rest assured, when I can, I will!
