The trip and odometer quit working. Been through this with my K100RT and probably the gears inside. Only took me about 10 mins. to remove it from the RT which was mounted on the handle bars. This one is mounted on a bracket up in the fairing. Before I disassemble half the bike, any shortcut advice would be appreciated.

You need to remove the upper screws on the inside of the fairing (can't remember if there are four or six - there are two that are sort of midway down to the instrument cluster), and the screws that hold the windscreen assembly. Have a towel or a substantial rag at the ready to rest the windscreen assembly on - or unplug it and put it someplace it won't get damaged.

Find the hex screw that holds the plug on the back of the assembly and remove it, then find the two hex screws that hold the cluster on - remove those - and it'll come off.

It's easier to do with three or four hands...

Thanks for the removal info Jim. The light green gear is missing a couple of teeth. I installed it back on the bike with the speedo face and needle indicator removed. I then ran it in gear just to make sure the electric motor was turning a gear, which it was. Need gears!!!

Dang - that was quick. Good to know you got it going for a reasonable amount.
