Hi

Can't type the code to the radio, no digits apears in the display nither starts the radio. Green background lights goes on in the ignition-radio and ignition-ignition position.
Put it in K11LT#2 with the same result but as we reinstalled the radio from bike#2 into K11LT#2 we could type the code and that radio works fine in bike#2.
Common error seems to be within radio#1.

What can we test?

Try this: Radio off, ignition off.........hold the ST button down, while switching on the ignition.

Hi Inge

The radio came on as normally today w/o your suggested prcedure,
only a complete cleaning but later it died compleatly. Probably bejoyned repair.
The tape engine moved with variable speed and then he connected the radio directly to a battery for testing the tape engine and at this time it gave up.

We will probably have to replace the radio with another type/brand, any tips on this?

I think Drake posted about his upgrade with a marine grade remote for it as well. You might try a search for it.

Found one fault a damaged wire on the PCB, solded in a new wire and the CODE and radio and.. works well except the fading speed of the tape unit.

That's next "challange".

Forget about the tape unit. In the very near future, if not already, you aren't going to find any tapes to play in it anyway.
If you already have tapes, age will be getting the best of them. The media will be getting brittle and apt to break.

When I first got my '97 it didn't come with a radio. So I got one and installed it. Never did use the tape drive in it.
Within a 2 years I upgraded to an in-helmet com system and went bluetooth with my ipod.
I think I've only used the radio part maybe 3 times in the last 2 years.
I'm seriously thinking of removing it, have the bucket storage back, and a little less weight.

If you are thinking of a radio/cd combination, check to make sure that they will operate the cd in the vertical position.

True, I went down the "Blaupunkt radio with SD card reader and AKE adapter" route which saved 0.6kg in weight as there is no mechanism, it's all solid state, and you can get a several CD's worth of music on an SD card.
