I'm not sure.

I wonder if the Cat were removed if the ecu would require remapping.

Question

I'm not fully certain about the remapping being required.

I can say that after 3,000 plus miles with an aftermarket system with no cat that all seems just fine.
Did retain the oxygen sensor, just no cat anymore.

Bike really runs about the same, milage in town is the same, highway sustained riding slightly better.

But on the flip side- doesn't Scott have his oxygen sensor disconnected with no problems- and he doesn't have a cat.

The only problem automobiles have is when a converter collapses internally and clogs up the exhaust flow.

I've had Staintunes installed (with O2 sensors) on both of my K1100s for mucho miles and both run fine.

I only had to remap the GPS. Very Happy

I have a Remus(no cat) on the '95 with the 02 sensor installed. Haven't noticed any change in performance with or with out the 02 sensor connected.
Which makes wonder if my 02 sensor is good or not.
I am getting 48+ mpg highway loaded with full bags.

I just got the '97 out for the season so I'm going to try and compare performance and mileage between the two. It still has the original exhause with cat.

Okay, So here's a question.
Do all K1100's have Cats? Even if they don't have Oxygen sensors?

I'm probably wrong in my thoughts here, but I think only the u.s./canadian market has the cat's.

On this side of the pond it also was usually delivered with cats.
You could also have it without, but I`m not shure which markets that was an possible option.

To Vigomas:
If it gots a cat, it also got a lambda sensor. You could get a unregulated cat (without a sensor) for 75`s and late 100`s.

Interesting. I know that my exhaust weighs a ton. Must be a shed load of plumbing inside or something.
