Can the OE rack that bolts to the seat tailpiece on a K1100 support the 35 litre BMW topbox?
I'm getting a second K1100LT and it has this rack fitted as well as the panniers and rails. My current LT has the full topbox/pannier rail mounting where the topbox supports bolt to the pannier rails.
I know there is a smaller topbox so maybe thats all this mount can support? Motorworks sell a Givi topbox mount that bolts on in it's place and fits any Monokey box so that suggests a bigger topbox can be mounted...
Just it will save me swapping the mounts over between the bikes... |

The BMW rack is for K75/K100 and fits the small topcase. It is not a good idea to have a heavy load on the seat tail, it breaks easily, unless you reinforce it seriously. _________________ I am not a number, I am a free man.

And the small topcase (22L) has a unique shape where it mates with that small angled rack. _________________ John & Cathy

I ran a Givi 36 liter on my K75RT. Worked fine. I never really loaded it up very heavy though as you want to keep heavier stuff in the front of the side cases for handling reasons.
I once delivered a K transmission 60 miles away in the 35L on my LT. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

The gearbox fits tighly the 35 liters, already did that too, but the support may not like it. _________________ I am not a number, I am a free man.

This reminds me the first K100LT`s which came with the big topbox bolted directly to the ducktail.........
without reinforcement.
