Well it happened today. The rear U-joint cratered on my drive shaft.
Does anyone have a replacement? Has any one replaced the rear short yoke portion only?

Try Beemer Boneyard or one of the other parts yards - one of the stickies has a list.

The good side is that it didn't lock up at speed and through you off in the dirt. I Have seen shaft on the ebay site might check there. The Professor Duck at kbikeparts.com or beemerboneyard.com would be a places. I've had good luck at both. How much is showing on your clock? Any unrecognized indicators before failure?

Hi,
My odometer is showing 118600 Miles. Yesterday, morning I was making a left turn from a green light, heard a small click lower than my feet. Next the noise just started getting louder and worse, vibrations and the like.
Thank God it didn't give out on me at speed on the crowded freeways of Dallas.
I've checked the boneyards you suggested yesterday, I've found one at a different place for 175.00 US.
I just wanted to see If anyone had one here.

What is the price of a brand new one in US?
Remember a used one won't last as long, especially if it is an "old" version.

When you do a spline lube it's a good idea to test the U-joints for "lumpiness" as that's a sign that the bearings are going.
I just did my LT at 50k and all is well with the U-joints as far as I can tell.

It would depend how long the owner plans to keep the bike.
Me, I went with new when I replaced mine.

I've had both the front and rear go on mine, rear was no problem, front locked up as I changed from 1st to 2nd, one thing that scares me more is what I saw one afternoon on a K100LT at walking pace, was a guy comming out of a driveway and the bolt/shaft that the rear shock sits on the diff totaly snapped, the bike just collapsed onto the rear wheel needed three of us to move it off the road, imagine that at 100Kmph  |

Good News!
I'm back on 2 wheels.
Got one off of Flea Bay. Used the Honda lube.
Noticed something else. I think it rides smoother, I lubed the small bearings on the Para-lever, I think my kidneys are going to survive now.
Not that it was bad, but it sure feels smoother over bumps on the highways around Dallas.
P.S. 102 today.
I have a 3 core radiator, manual fan switch, Johnny blanket mod, Bagster tank bra and bag, and a sheepskin seat cover. Also I have highway pegs to get my legs in the all be it HOT wind.
