ARGH!!! Back on the K11 refurbishment: two weeks ago we thought we had achieved success; replaced the 0-rings on the injectors (found one chipped; replaced them all). Over the last two weeks, left it naked and put about 150 miles on it with no problem.
So today we were going to finish the job and close up the bike. But when we started it up, it started to spew fuel from the injector that is #2 from the rear of the bike.
My question is this: how sensitive is the fuel rail? We possibly did two things wrong: (l) instead of running the return hose from the pressure regular to the tank back through the airbox hoses (between #1 and #2 from the rear), we bought it up under the TBs and over the fuel rail, leaving the return hose touching the fuel rail. Also, we did not insert the heavy foam piece that is between the block and the bottom of the fuel rail.
Would either of those contributed to twisting of the fuel rail and the subsequent leaking at the injector top?
We're going to explore one other possibility: that the pressure regulator is not working right, but we have to go get a pressure meter and so won't know about that until late this afternoon.
Thanks for any suggestions
Larry Johnson

My guess is that the injector may not be seated all the way into the rail.
You want to but the injectors into the rail first then seat them into the intakes. It worked easier for me that way when I had mine apart. _________________ Ride safe.

Hi Larry....
Do as Scott says... install to the rail first, and REMEMBER, that those o-rings ( 7.0 x 3.52 ) are fluroelastomer and are stubborn to seat at either top or bottom. That results in a spiral twist at installation that can lead to leakage. After you THINK you've seated the injector, give it a slight rotation both right and left to encourage any 'spiral twist' to normalize itself. Once seated in the 'intakes' also again give the injector body a slight rotation both right and left, also to allow the ring to relieve itself. As a rule of thumb... green FKM rings are easiest to install, brown are somewhat harder ( 70 Shore-A durometer ) and the black Asian-aftermarket FKMs are the hardest of all. In a production environment ( such as GM/Siemens Assembly in Vienna Austria ) we used a light soap/water solution to encourage seating and subsequent assembly...if you have further problems you might consider the same.
Good luck....// Ernie in NH _________________ AMA,, American Deaf Bikers

Guys, could you have some rust/crosion in the fuel rail injector hole and it is rough on the rubber o-rings causing a leak?
hope u get it sorted out lLarry.

DUH!
It was almost six weeks between the time we pulled the injectors and sent them off to Mr. Injector and got them back.
And this was our first time with memories not always reliable. Went through another iteration last week and things seemed fine, but we had no confidence.
Then Scott/Mystic Red posted a very helpful illustrated report on the process on MOTOBRICK and in passing, mentioned "don't forget the clips."
We had forgotten them. Haven't had time to find them and reinstall them but both of us have bruised foreheads.
Joel's getting ready for a long road trip in his new diesel jetta and I'll be leaving in a couple of weeks to pick up the Wenatchee bike and ride it to Wisconsin and then back to El Paso, so we may not have an update for a month or so but this seems to have solved the problem.
BTW: I've been, as an academic, someone extremely interested in the dynamics of communication for the last forty years. I can appreciate those dynamics in play as MOTOBRICKS emerged from K11OG members. I hope that folks like Scott and others continue to share their technical expertise on both forums--the bike, after all, is the common concern.
