Looks like I reeeeeeally need some new tires...

... so here they are.

Avon Storm 2 Ultra. I've read some good reviews (ok, and some mentioning complicated exceptions...) and had a friend's recommendation. Besides, I think the price was nice.

Let's see how they "handle the pressure" of replacing the Metzeler. Can't praise it enough for the resistance. It's still an excellent choice. Will the Avon's be up to the task?

Carlos,

Have the same tires down in the garage, ready to mount. Wonder how they will compare to Michelin PR2s- been through 5 or 6 sets of PR2s on several bikes.

Stay in touch about how they feel to you and I will do the same.

John

Ok, then, let's us three share some impressions about the Avon's. Smile Got them mounted today and went for a small test.

To start with, they make the ride much more confortable and smooth. The rubber is softer than the Metzeler and Brigestone I had.

It's also easier to flick the bike from one side to the other (the old tires were almost "square"...) and the K now wants to curve! I mean, while curving, she "lays down" to the inside. Really nice feeling, but I took it slow. I didn't ride enough kilometers to remove the wax off the tires.

I'm looking forward to test the Avon's in my commuting. First impressions are positive. I'll stay in touch for more details.

Regards!

Carlos,

I should be mounting mine sometime this week.

If we start having some impressions to post one of us should start an Avon thread in the tech section-

John,

Sure, I agree. In the Tech or in the Product Review section, maybe.

Just to finish, my Avon's had their baptism today. First commuting, first ride in the rain. Waxed or not, they did good. I'm pleased!

Hi,
Many years ago I lived in Valladolid, Spain for a year ('80-'81) and while there, bought an '81 R100RT. Harriet (late wife) and I rode it all over Spain and Portugal. Someday I'd like to return to see places we fell in love with 30 years ago. Alas, Harriet can no longer accompany me, as she died of complications of colon cancer three years ago.
Jeeves here,,sad news Phil and very sorry to here you lost your Girl,,,i had colon cancer two years ago and had sugury to repair it,,the deal is they were screening me for it because my dad had it!!!so due to screening and diligence by Drs. i was sent home fixed no medicine, nothing because THEY GOT IT EARLY,that's the key,i had a spot the size of a thumbprint so they only removed 6 cms. instead of half my guts,,so any who read this GET SCREENED,,tell them your father or your brother had it and your worried,,it saved my sorry ass,,ttfn

Just some photos of a sunday ride with a friend, on the second weekend of September.

Lunch in 'Arruda dos Vinhos', where we parked the bikes near a monument to the fighters of the First World War.

Then, an afternoon ride to the vicinities of 'Mafra', just for a drink and to have a look at the bikes in a rally.

To finish with, we where going to have a look at what's new in the Dainese store in 'Cartaxo', but it was already closed. We'll go earlier next time...

Regards,
