Anybody from the Midwest? I've been following the news of the bad weather. It's the worst tornado season in about sixty years... Everybody ok?

Carlos,

We have a few members in Illinois and at least 1 in Iowa- (I'm probably forgetting some others). FORTUNATELY they seem to have been missed by this run of bad weather.

Interestingly we had tornado warnings Wednesday evening but it wasn't as bad as they predicted and even that went north of us. It is very unusual for this to happen in northeastern U.S.
But lately the weather has been unusual in many place all over the world, right?

Isn't Supercat and his brother in Kansas City Mo.?
Yep I'm here in Iowa, just a whole lot of rain and high wind.
We had our F5 tornado here 3 years ago. Leveled the small town of Parkersburg(40 miles northeast of me). Kind of a miracle, I was out on my bike that day for a ride and decided, for some unknown reason, not to ride up that direction. Shocked Then I hear about it after I get home. Talk about a little OMG.

We've been lucky here so far, with the worst passing North and South of us, and the rest moving through very quickly. My neighbors a few hundred miles to the West have not been so lucky, particularly in Joplin, Missouri. It's not over yet, but I'm still safely riding to work every day. Thanks for the thoughts, Carlos! Very Happy

A BMW friend of mine and his family from Dallas drove up to Joplin the day before that fateful Sunday for his nephews graduation. The tornado came afterwards. They were in the outskirts of the damage path and were protected in a shelter.
I spoke to him a couple of times. He/they spent the next two days helping with triage. Said it was like a bomb went off all over the place. Dozens of bodies in the flatten Home Depot to be removed.
Here down in Austin, Texas, we're in a historic sever drought, so not much chance of foul weather here, at least of the wind/wet kind.
Randy

Wishing you all well with the wild weather.

The weather sure throws some oddballs at times.

Sorry about the tornadoes.

All the best and for a good riding season.

I'm glad everybody's ok. I've seen some pretty impressive tornado videos from the last week... Trully amazing.

You bet, John. Even here we're having some occasional tornados. Usually extremely rare, but seemingly becoming more common. Still, nothing compared to the US season.

Impossible not to think about you guys. K11 OG is a link that connects us, one way or another. Wink

I can't imagine that tragedy. Only wish all the best for the rebuild. Keep safe!

hey yeah, my bro and i live in the kc area. he in lawrence and i actually in kc. luckily our locals have not seen that bad of storms. however, joplin is another story. that place reminds me of greensburg, ks. hopefully they are able to rebuild like greensburg has.

thanks for the thoughts. Smile

Doing fine here, just east of the St. Louis metro area. We've spent more time in the basement than usual during the many warnings, and had several black outs but only actually had a few twisters touch down near by.

My wife had a one hit within 2 miles of her during a bumper to bumper commute home from St. Louis, but got home safely with only shaken nerves and a minor trim piece on the car lost to hail during the event. Fair trade, if you ask me...I'll take my cutie in exchange for a $35 chunk of plastic.

I am not from here, so not I'm sure what to think of all this. But the family is well enough in spite of it all.

I have a friend who just moved here from Indiana. Every time the volunteer fire companies siren goes off the cat runs for the basement stairs! We do not get a lot of tornadoes around here due to the terrain, but there have been more localized than in recent years.
