Hello all! I am fairly new to K-bikes, but the one thing that I need is a radiator fan or fan motor....
I was riding the other day in town and noticed the temp gauge was almost to the red marks! So I drove it home and tried the fan self test on my '93, and no noise at all.
Thanks for the help all! _________________ 1993 K1100RS - 90K miles

The K100 models are similar to the K1100 models, especially for components like the fan. An alternative to the BMW OE fan is to use readily available aftermarket direct drive fans that provide greater reliability and performance than the BMW component. I compiled different web articles regarding managing heat on the K100 into a single document and authored a PDF file. A link to the file is in this post.. It might be useful to review the use of a modern fan since you have to replace the unit anyway and you'd like to avoid doing this again in the future. _________________ - Robert

You could also remove the fan and see why it isn't working.
If it's just stuck, provided it's not burned up by now, it's possible to free it up and continue to use it(while keeping an eye out for a spare to have on hand if you so choose).
I recieved a fan with a rad/comb that I had purchased and the fan motor was stuck/siezed. A little bit of penetrating fluid and then some light wt oil, and some patience to work with it, and it works just like new now.
If it has electrically burned up then you are looking at replacing it. _________________ Ride safe.

Thanks for the replies guys, I actually saw that beemerboneyard with the new motor, but decided not to go that route.
As far as the aftermarket fan, it looks to be a lot more money than a motor, or used fan on eBay here in the states.
It sounds like may be able to get one from a member here.
Thanks again! _________________ 1993 K1100RS - 90K miles
