Injured on Oct. 3, 2010, into the shop mid Dec, 2010. Returned to me (mostly complete) on April 27, 2011.

Poorly treated while she was in CalMoto's hands, they never put the battery on a charger or tender until it was about to be returned to me. Result: New Battery required.

They failed to properly bolt on the right engine guard. They left two bolts off and it was wobbly and loose.

Many of the bulb sockets in the instrument console are flakey now. I often have to rap on the face of the speedo or tach to get the ABS lights or some of the backlights to work.

Over four months she was there. Because the shop didn't care about my beloved brick. They let the paint shop they chose to do the job sit on it with no concern for my lost time.

The main fairing is new. The paint job is mediocre. The paint job on the saddlebag lids is junior high grade. They didn't even fill the scratches and sand, they just painted over the scratches (they are very apparent).

Although they weren't needed, the shop raked the insurance company over the coals for new engine guards, new foot pegs and any other minorly scratched item they could get away with.

But she's back in my hands.

Yes, the Brick Is Back!

I was going to suggest that you talk to Kari (the owner) about it but sadly just discovered that Kari Prager passed away on 11/15/2010. I am very sad to hear of his passing. He was a good man and very involved in our riding community. Always happy to talk bikes, travel, whatever. I am sure the dealership has been in turmoil since then. We lost a brother.

Rest in Peace Kari.

Kari was a very good man. I had the pleasure of riding with him a few times. It's sad to see the service dept doing such a poor job of representing his legacy.

Oh well M, at least it is in time for the riding season.

Glad it is safely back in your hands and good to go.

Good thing you are able to fix the left over faults and get her road born again.

All the best

Safe roads Wink

I haven't ridden anything else since I got her back over a week ago... Smile

I'm still getting used to how she feels in turns and stuff. Some of the muscle memory faded with time.

It was a long and frustrating journey to get this dealt with. But like you said, at least she's back home now. And it's a good time to ride.

That's a sad sad story, MNB. How's it possible for a shop that services dozens, or hundreds, of customers to act like that? I would't go back unless for them to fix what they did. Usually these are good oportunities to find out a dealer that works better. And sometimes, for less money!

It's pretty much all taken care of now. I pick up a new battery on Tuesday from my Battery Guy. He takes good care of me. The beefiest batteries I can get at awesome prices.

It's so good to have my brick back. It's really improved my mood, even though my 800GS is down with bizarre clutch/tranny probs. Hopefully that can get resolved - I'm looking forward to some serious ADV riding later this year.

Some say it's the little things in life that bring so much joy. It's just a motorcycle. It's an engine, frame and two wheels. But there's no better mental therapy!
