this one is new to me, but maybe someone has heard it before...a loud 'clack' like metal on metal when starting. I stopped the starter thinking this could be really bad, then tried it again, another 'clack' but then it started with nothing unusual going on. ride around the block, up a hill or two, not too fast, being a little cautious, but nothing else. What was it?
Also, bike seems a little too eager to make right hand turns. Just a little lean and it seems to turn itself more than I am used to - fork oil leak rearing its ugly head>? same side..Was going to have it done next week.!

When starting the engine or starting the bike in first gear?

Definitely in Neutral and on the stand...maybe it was slightly off in terms of being not perfectly in neutral (I have heard of false neutrals before...) and the noise was the conflict of not being where it should be?? that would be a good thing, I guess, and a reminder to check for neutral before starting anyway..!

I was thinking of the ABS II noise when the bike start...

You need to find out where the noise comes from, could it be the alternator?

What is the ABS noise??
something metallic and loud?
ouch - dropped the bike today, first time..taking a stupid way out of a tight parking spot..
mirror came off. seems to go right back on though, with these kind of heavy clips inside.. - and cracked the lens..
worse part - pulled my calf muscle..might not be able to ride for a while. no strength and much pain!

I think the 1st thing we need to know is what year/style/model of bike are we dealing with, and how many miles.
You could add it to your sig line so we don't have to ask with each new post.

Otherwise we are guessing as much or more than you are.

You have a working neutral light, right? The light will only come on when the bike is in real neutral...

Ok, is this bike recently new to you?
How many miles?
When was the last time the oil was changed?

I'm thinking that the sprag clutch for the starter may be sticking a little bit and making noise when it engages.

Normally when these clutches stick, starter turns but doesn't turn the engine at all because the internals of the sprag(centrifical design) are gummed up and wont engage. Usually caused by lack of oil changes and dirty old oil.
Get youself some cleaner detergant, like SeaFoam or something similar. Run in the oil, get it up to normal running temp. Like a nice long ride.
Drain the oil and change the filter, and refill with fresh oil.

It's possible that the metal-metal could possibly be the sprag internals making noise. Not likely but one never knows.
