well, went back to the doc today and foot is right on track....
I can now put weight on my foot, but have to wear a compression boot for the next 4 weeks. At which time i should be able to begin full use of my foot, however we dont know how much nerve damage i will experience. In general, my foot has regained about %70+ of the feeling.
Im feeling (99%)good about making HM....as well as I am planning(dreaming of) a trip to the dragon in April, after the boot comes off. But I will make that decision over the next few weeks.....
At this point...im just happy to be standing and walking on my own!!
On the bike front, ive got most of the parts in, and waiting for Drake to let me know the status of the remianing. Then off to the painter....
be safe...... |

Nice work Breeze
I had severe nerve damage in my leg and over a period of a few years it is 96% grown back.
Good Drake for having those parts handy.
Your experience has reinforced for me that "they may as well be out to get you" as far as it goes for cage jockeys.
Keep up that movement but don't overdo it.

Good to hear you're healing well.
The Dragon is nothing to dream about - unless you have fantasies about lots of LEOs, squids and Harleys all in the same place. Plenty of other good riding in that neck of the woods though.
Sorry but your parts request fell off of my radar. I've had lots going on lately but I will get back to you in the morning.
(BTW: It's best to email me because that's how I keep parts requests organized.) _________________ 93 LT (x2)

i noticed youve been on the road a lot, so youd get to me as soon as you could.....
The dragon is all those things Drake....but at the right time it is one of the most intense 11 miles of kick ass on a bike. The leo's have been much better lately, but it did need to be cooled down, as it was getting out of controll up there...
The real magic is all the roads around there that are never/rarely ridden.... |

went to the doc today and got cleared off the boot. looking at 6 weeks of rehab but im allowed light activity(no running or jumping). Bones are healed but lots of soft tissue that need to heal and rehab.
I went for a ride today, (its not running or jumping), for the first time since the accident, was kinda sureal.
Gonna go for a ride this weekend too...and looking forward to HMIV... |

you know what they say;
There two kinds of riders, those that have gone down or those that haven't yet.
Now just don't let it happen again.
glad your back on 2 wheels.
Those that have gone down understand what you mean by saying the 1st ride after is sureal, it fades with time in the saddle.

i beleive its just PT. not sure exactly what they will have me doing since i wont go till next week. The key is to get the motion back, i can only move my toes about 30% of their range.
luckly, my ankle and up didnt get any damage.
funny, i woke up this morning wanting to commute today..gotta take it easy though... |

It will be PT- your injury is what they work on.
Cathy is an OT and that would be outside her "scope of practice".
Best of luck with the rehab. _________________ John & Cathy

Well, ive been walking very slowly for 2 weeks now and started PT. They seem to think I will be able to walk without a limp, but not sure what % of normal i will regain.
I took a ride last weekend to deals gap on my k100rs, with the big fat 11Lt seat and did real good, after all how hard is it to sit on a bike!! I couldnt put any weight on my foot for agressive riding or leaning off the bike but, still a blast...lots of countersteering, and making sure I didnt drag my right foot...
The shop called today and said the bike is totaled!! $6500 in parts is where they stopped. Funny since I have purchased all the parts (used)to do myself for under a grand at this point, sans paint...but I still have to do the formal shit till a settlement is done.
Anyway, Im looking forward to HM, and will be taking the Motorsport, as its the only bike without rearsets and a riidng position that keeps the weight off my foot.....Sean we will have to wait too do a 11s ride together.
breeze...

I just went through an insurance claim with body parts and paint. Picking the bike up tomorrow after more then four months of down time.
Parts replaced:
main fairing on K1100LT SE
main fairing bracket
left mirror housing
left mirror glass
right mirror housing
parts painted:
main fairing
left mirror
right mirror
left saddlebag lid
right saddlebag lid
The dealer tried to pile on every little scratched part they could find, even if it was obviously not scratched in the accident. I had them remove some parts so I could get a new main fairing (they wanted to repair the old one). I figured the tiny scratch in the worthless engine guard was something I could live with.
If you do a lot of the work yourself, you can probably keep them from totaling the bike. Of course, you'll be donating your time...
The shop I chose to manage the work made me a guinea pig for trying out a new paint shop they hadn't worked with before. Their work is below average and they sat on the work for MONTHS. But at this point, I'd legally have to let them have a chance to make it good, which would men more months of waiting for mediocre work. I talked them into a 30% discount or so on my out of pocket expenses and will just ride away. It'll look better than it did before the kickstand folded up on me (for the third time).
I hope your experience goes MUCH better. Especially since you have an injury to deal with. _________________ M N B

My attorney called this week to let me know we have a settlement for the injuries for 21K. Since there was no surgury, the medical treatment was minimal, which is good for me(bad if you wanna get rich from a lawsuit)....
So, considering the other driver didnt get a citation, and two other accident attorneys said it was a weak case. We were able to zero my losses and walk away feeling like her insurance premiums will rise in the future and the time I spent laid up will be reimbursed with a nice vacation to a location of my choice!!
The bike is still under consideration. They came back with Totaled and $3400? cash. Serious BS I said......Im still riding the bike(K bikes are tough SOB's)....
Im hoping for 3K+ keep the bike.....well see....
Been doing some serious work on my foot, and its feeling about 90% now....
With all that being said....No amount of money can make up for being put out of commision by someome. Im just thankfull I have a foot and will recover, and she has been held accountable.
ride safe..... |
