Sad Sad Sad Sad

Well guys....

Still nothing definitive from "crojoz".... Beginning to think this is just a 'post marital pissed' type of comment ! You know.."..it aint me, its everyone and everything else !! "

Al the input on Lucas has been very entertaining however. I can well remember my ol' Norton 750 in the mid sixties which had flash wiring fires on start-up that occurred nearly every day... and the constant companion WD40 to suppress the rainy day/night "light shows" as Tim mentioned !!

Have fun all, and ride safe !............// Ernie in NH

I was blaming my K11's electrics for starting a fire yesterday, but having opened it up, it looks like it was caused by the cigarette lighter socket installed by a previous owner.

I noticed a fuse had blown on the bike a few weeks ago, so I replaced it yesterday with another I had, but this 2nd fuse was obviously of crap quality as it didn't break, instead it melted the plastic around it.

That's a scary fuse. Shocked

Are you sure the cig lighter was installed by a PO? Lots of the LTs came with them from the factory.

Nope, I'm not sure now you mention it, but seem to remember the guy I bought it off saying it wasn't standard. I could be wrong though.

Might be a bit difficult to test that one considering the geography, but I will say the howl of the triple at full bore puts any twin to shame sorry. It was an unnerving experience at first then just music from then on!!

BTW they aren't Lanfranconis I suspect, they're whatever Slaters put on the Jotas, may be the lfs, I'll go check. They're flippin loud whatever they are!

Drikko, I bow to your superior knowledge Laughing
Sorry to hear about the conflagration Stu.
Could it have been the heated grip wires, a known firestarter (twisted or not)?

Hey Tim, don't give up, but I did have friend drop by this afternoon who rides mostly BMs and a Triumph twin, newish one. He sat on the Lav and I think I need to hose the seat off. It frightened him at fist then a sick grin appeared....

Someone on this thread said I would be surprised at how nice the Lav would be. I know now that s/he was kidding....Smile

Ok,
Its not a joke thread it is true but mebbe I was a bit ranty!!
Still stand by what I said about the electrics though, much, much worse than my old Jota AND Commando!!
Bought it last August, since then;
1, Heated handle bar grips, bang, new ones fitted
2, Electric windshield relays, twice, both of them!
3, AB bloody S Relays, both.
4, Rear brake light switch.
5, Side stand cut out switch.
6, "Interior" lamp.
7, Radio wiring.
8, Various wiring faults. Gawd they sure skimp on the wire quality!
Other history,
I paid £600 for the bike, it is/was looked like a good 'un, then the bugger bit my ankles, hard! so far inc' purchase price I have spent out £1800!
but I shall be keeping it now!
ATB,
Croz
P.S. fork seals just popped, do think it may be something in the air though, water pump just bust on my merc' sprinter van and 'er indoors just filled her car with petrol, £70 worth, not a lot wrong with that, except its a friggin diesel! wont be lettin her loose from the kitchen for a while now!

If it really is that bad you'll bite my hand off.?

In all my considerable years of biking, never had a problem with Uncle Joe's electrics, until last Saturday, when main beam & the warning light packed up just before the MOT test. 15 minutes later it had self repaired & still works now. It's lined up for an IBMWR K style electrical tune up.

Honestly, Commandos sound better than a Jota? Did a track day at Malory park back when they were not as popular as they are now, took the Commando, '72 combat roadster and the Jota, the Commando measured 94Dbs on the standard reverse cone "peashooters" whilst the Jota measured 107Dbs on the Healy made "silencers". They took some persuading to let me ride the Jota! Commandos sound great when your banging down the 'box and on full loudlever, but the 180° triple, that is something else!

Croz
