That's the problem:
Speedometer OK.
Tach OK.
But: Odometer (both) not working.
The partial one is turning by the hand knob.

What to look for?

Sounds like you may have some broken gear(s) inside there.
I've read of some replacing the broken gears, just can't remember where or where they sourced the replacement parts. I do remember that it was NOT thru BMW.

Very hard name to remember: http://odometergears.com/

Since both quit it sounds like it might be the driving gears on the side. If that's the issue then I've got spares of those available.
