I had no idea she is a serious rider/former racer. I stumbled across this on a Versys forum.
Here she is promoting "Ride to Work" day in AZ.

May she have a speedy recovery and continue her good work, and may those who didn't make it rest in peace.... _________________ Steve

I also didn't know that she's a motorcyclist. Anyway, what a tragic event...
Last news I read say that Gabrielle Giffords is already breathing without the help of a ventilator. Although still in a serious condition, she's now conscious and is able to answer doctors' questions. Good news.
In this story there's an irony (at least, from an European point of view): seems that Gabrielle was an advocate of fire arms as a tradition. She even had a 9mm Glock. The same pistol used by the attacker... _________________ Carlos

That's hardly political - just a fact - no more nor less than the fact that she owns and rides motorcycles. _________________ Jim

Here's the quote referenced above.
| Quote: | Arizona representative Gabrielle Giffords — recovering in hospital after being shot in the head during an apparent assassination attempt yesterday — isn’t just a Democratic congresswoman. She’s also a motorcyclist. Pictured above with the BMW she hopes to someday ride to Argentina, Giffords says she’s been riding and racing motorcycles for over 20 years. Two years ago, as co-chair of the Congressional Motorcycle Caucus, she had one of the most powerful pro-motorcycling arguments you’ve ever read passed by the House of Representatives.

This is a tender subject for everyone, and the slightest whiff of politics however unintentional can be really objectionable to folks.
That said, she is indeed a rider, and is even a chair of the House of Representatives Motorcycle Safety Conference.
Best news of all, apparently she is coming out of the forced coma and is opening her eyes! _________________

Her position on gun control certainly is political and it is bringing politics into it.
It's also a fact that he could've driven a car into the crowd or set off a bomb to commit mass murder. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I agree with Drake but think in this case KarlosII may have been misunderstood. _________________ Jim

The only thing I wanted was to point out an irony, similar to so many that happen in this world. In this case, unfortunatelly, it involved guns and people being shot. Maybe a sensitive matter to some, but it was not my intention to cause a debate about fire arms. A misunderstanding, for sure, Saltcreek.
This said, I agree with Jim. What happened is a fact. What could have happened is not. Period. With all due respect to Gabrielle Giffords.
This said, I have a proposal to all members: to buy a flower 'bouquet' with a card from K11 OG wishing her all the best recoveries, as a pro-motorcycle activist and BMW rider. One dollar per member would suffice. The question is: is there an active member from the U.S. state where she's at, that could take this into his hands? I'm too far away to take care of it, but I'll contribute. _________________ Carlos

Three, then. Thanks John.
What I suggest is that some US/ Arizona member would be the organizer and receiver of the donations. Three, 10, 15 dollars, what we could gather, for a symbolic flower arrangement.
Then, just print the K11 OG logo and the contributing members' names into a card (also identify them here for transparency reasons). Get it delivered together with the flowers. Just my proposal.
Here's a flower shop link I found on Google: http://www.phoenixflowershops.com/category.cfm/catID/70#page-2
Could this be done? _________________ Carlos
