|
|
I have been trying to translate this article using my (weak) German skills and Google Translate and am failing miserably -- anyone able to do a good translation???
http://k-technik.pytalhost.com/pdf/Falschluftopt.pdf
It is pure gold and would be a great resource. I have already cross-referenced all the part numbers from the ETK to current, it is the text that is driving me nuts
I have sent the original author repeated e-mails with no response.

Ted I am pretty sure that Google has a function that automatically translates stuff into any language.
Might be slightly disjointed but that could be fixed.
My Son and one of my Daughters, are true bi linguals and speak English and German as mother-tongues.
They will both be here for the Christmas break, so I will look into it with them then.
Thanks so much for your awesome K bike input over the many years and to this great site
All the very best

Ted, happy to help you if Merlin can't. It won't be quick though. Any words that you're having difficulties with or is it the whole (31 pages!) bit? The link to the German site is a good one as they have an English section as well, where some of the German members respond as well. Let us know how you get on? _________________ Cheers, Rene

Ted, I could be wrong, but think that the author is (or used to be) on that forum board. His user name "PEZI". I'm not good with German either but the name looks familiar.
I have downloaded and saved some of his publishings as well, he's very good.
Since they changed forum format a few months ago I haven't been active on it, didn't care for it too much.
Good luck _________________ Ride safe.

Great find Ted and also what I need for the next stage of fixing up the fuel system on the K100RS.
I did try a copy and paste of the first page into the Google translate text tool and it worked quite well. I'll continue with it as time permits (and let ya know how I go) but might only need explanation of a few technical words. _________________ Greg

Ok I have translated the whole document using Google translate and it did an Ok job. I need to fix up the formatting a bit and some minor text hiccups but it's pretty good. You need the original doc at the moment to refer to the figures/photos.
This is just a translation with some grammer changes etc for clarification.
At present it is a 26kB MS Word document. If you would like a copy by email then PM me your email info. (Note - I fully acknowledge the original authors work and have kept all references to the author).
The info is based on the K75 but it is pretty much applicable across the K bikes. Some of the info is very basic (i.e. replace worn parts and don't drop stuff in the motor!!!!) but it is a good diagramatic walk through of the air and fuel systems for disassembly, cleaning and reassembly. _________________ Greg

Quite right, but Drikko is in his submarine...
I did a Google translate of the entire doc and sent it off to Ted before the Festive Season, as a personal message. It seemed to fit in the PM box although I'm sure it was bulging at the sides.
It looked fine but my German is rudimentary at best.
My Kids were going to be very busy for Christmas visit and so I just sent it on.
It did look like a fine piece of explanation with good pics too. Looks like the plenum for the K75 is quite different for the bigger Ks.
Very wet here with more on the way.
All the best and thanks All for keeping the List alive and strong.

Not far from it, after 2 months of rain the neighbours back yard finally flowed over drowning my shed, was up at 6 this morning digging diversion channels around it!
Still can't complain, the house is well above water _________________ K1100RS '97

Hi Ted...
I see no one has come forward yet... although born in Boston during WW-II, I was returned to Europe as a lad, was educated in Germany, and have lived most of my adult life in Germany. I consider myself to be a native German speaker, BUT the article you cited is a long one to sit down and translate, and family consumes nearly all of my time now that I am retired.,,,, however, I will work on it in scheduled "bits and pieces" and forward it to you when finished, or give it to you at HMSP ( if you'll be there ) It is not difficult technical reading, but setting it down in print is tedious... In the meantime another may come forward as well...
OK with you ??????

First - to all, THANKS!!!! I started this by looking up all the part numbers to replace the ETK numbers, then gave up when faced with lots of words not found in my German/English dictionary
I have input from several folks (thanks!) and plan on putting it all together once I get a few free moments (new job as of 1/1/11, goodbye free time!) I will post that, and maybe we can make this a cloud effort with folks taking and editing as they can. Ultimately we could hopefully end up with an awesome document with additions to the original but with great thanks to the author of the original. _________________

Ok excellent..glad this was sorted for you Ted. I have edited the doc further today and it is now a 38kB MS Word doc.
If anyone wants to use or expand on my version let me know otherwise will use it for my personal reference for now. _________________ Greg
