|

I have had this Audiovox cruise control kit kicking around for a few years. Just never got around to installing it. I made a bracket for the control pad which is supported by a bolt that goes through the left handle bar control. Early in the design. Where did everyone mount theirs that installed the kit? _________________ "Badges? We don't need no stinking badges"!

Flying Duck had THE slickest set up.
He had a K bike lefthand switchgear with the green windscreen up/down control. He used it for the UP (resume/accel) and down (set/coast) and did away with the Audiovox pad completely. NICE. _________________ John & Cathy

Same place as yours. I didn't want to alter anything on the bike. There's a stack of threads on it, type audiovox into the search engine above. Mine is in this thread http://k11og.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7866&highlight=audiovox _________________ K1100RS '97

Just started installing one today. Probably won't get back to it till spring. I have abs 1, 1993 K11LT. does the servo motor need to be mounted behind the battery, or can it just lay there? _________________ 93 K1100LT

Is it the vacuum or fully electronic? I have the fully electronic one in the rear cowling, with the vacuum one I had in the K100 I had it in the front faring. _________________ K1100RS '97

If you are asking where to mount the servo, I mounted mine in the left side fairing. I made up an aluminum spacer block (about 1 inch) and used the front fuel rail location.
Let me know if you have questions. _________________ Doug

Just take the bracket on the servo and shove it in with the ABS brain. Take a look at the Tech Sticky thread to see how I did that on a K100RS4V.
If you have one of the stock seat pans that sticks down below the frame that might not work though. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I have a stock seat pan on mine so that's why I went in the left side. _________________ Doug

Have a corbin on it. It seems to fit barely underneath. I will try slide the bracket where you say and will reference your write up. I had the write up with me but was missing a couple of pages. I will get back to it at a later date. I put the servo cable so it routed out the right side of the bike and crossed over behind the radiator and down to near the throttle body. Seems like it will work. _________________ 93 K1100LT

Haven't started on anything else except the control pad. I have to sit down and read all the threads and get aquainted with this again. _________________ "Badges? We don't need no stinking badges"!

Just a word of warning: if you take off the metal bracket off the servo, replace the screws back in their plastic holes sans bracket. They're what keep the top and bottom of the servo together. Else, the thing comes apart and it's tough to debug why the cruise suddenly is not working
As a word of encouragement, I installed one of these on my 97K1100LT and it is da bomb. Thanks to all you who went before and squandered your valuable life moments documenting it all, so the rest of us could sponge. _________________ 1997 K1100LT

I'd like to wake this thread up again. I purchased the Audiovox Cruise control used and would like to know how to hook it up to my 93 K1100LT. step by step directions would be great. Where to hook up the wires and place the componets. Please E-Mail any info to snapgadget@ftc-i.net as I'm not on this site daily. Thanks Kenny... _________________ Lifes too short to ride an ugly Motorcycle |

While this thread has been awakened can someone tell me if the electronic version (not vacuum) of this will work on the LT?
Thanks, _________________ Rich

Can't see why not, I have one on the RS so it shouldn't be any different. _________________ K1100RS '97

Ok if you can fit the electronic version how do you hook it up as I,ve been told by a US supplier it does,nt have the blue wire that connects to the coil as in the old vaccum system. I have an old vac unit that has stopped working and was looking to replace it with the newer elect which I believe only uses vss signal. Whats the go. I'll have to go look at what I did, but yes you don't need the coil signal, there's a dip switch that turns it off, and you set the switch to "Automatic gearbox" ie no clutch signal. I'll try and document it sometime. Makes sure the electronic one is the 250-1223. _________________ K1100RS '97

Look up the instructions for the 1223. It does have a dark blue wire for hooking up to one of the coils. You want that to avoid a "runaway" engine when you pull in the clutch. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I did connect it FD, but in the testing it didn't seem to be working, the brake light and VSS signal show up fine but not the coil so I assume it's not working. Am just careful to hit the brakes first before pulling the clutch in, never had an engine race yet. _________________ K1100RS '97
