1994 K1100Lt. Ok, sometimes I only have half a brain working at a time. I rebuilt the Hall Effect Plate some time ago and finally decided to put it in.
I pulled the lower fairings, pulled the plugs, took the Hall effect cover off. Installed the dial indicater. And Then, And Then, to turn #1 to TDC. The starter rolls it over to, to fast. So I put it in gear and tried to roll it over by turning the back tire. No matter what gear, that will take a Big Big Man. There just has to be a better way. Anyone willing to give up the secret. _________________ Lee Richter

First thought that comes to my mind would be to remove the spark plugs; then you should be able to turn the engine via the rear wheel fairly easily. _________________ David, owner of:

If you rebuilt the HES properly then you should just be able to line up the right side of it (looking at the engine from the front) to get the timing right. I've installed a few of them and every time I check it with a timing light I don't have to rotate it at all. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I bought a used HE first and installed it my self as you discribed, and the bike run ok by the mileage sucked. I took it to the local BMW folks and $103.00 later I could regularly get 47-48 MPG. I just had it in my mind to do it right the first time. With all the plugs removed, in 1st gear, to turn the rear wheel requires a 4 foot make shift lever. I got it done but there has got to be an easier way to bar the engine over. _________________ Lee Richter
