..... yes, she whistles when the fuel get down to the last 1-1.5 gallons in the tank. Is this normal or should I be planning to replacing the fuel pump?
Prehaps an audible low fuel warning feature??

The fuel pump is inside the tank. When there's less gas there's more room for the sound to resonate.

Yes, but this is a very loud whistle and will start and stop when accelerating and braking as the fuel splashes in the tank.
It seems to occur when the pump is not completely submersed in fuel.

Yeah, my K75RT drove me nuts for thousands and thousands of miles until I figured out that it was just caused by low fuel.

Mine occasionally honks when really low, especially when hot - I bet if we lined up a bunch of classic K-bikes all with low fuel we could get a symphony going

Mine whistles as it doesn't know the words, I'll get my coat 
It shouldn't whine before the fuel light illuminates, unless the bike is facing up a steep hill. Best not to allow this to happen as the fuel is so low that there is insufficient to cool the pump & if it is pumping air, it will wear the pump as the petrol provides lubrication.

As an added bonus it shuts down that pesky low fuel light when riding at night.
