More evidence that many don't care about evidence.

Sorry, but this is embarrassing. I wish I had statistics to indicate whether society is becoming more irrational, less or the same. I suspect a correlation between increasing irrationalism and the demise of professional journalism, however. _________________ tlp

As a professional historian of ideas, I can assure you that the behaviors themselves are no more and no less prevalent now than they were in the past.
But what has changed is the proliferation of such behaviors: leisure time and "fast" media have made them easier and more visible.
At least that's the way I see it.

Klinker,
I have to combat this "Lemmings to the sea" herd mentality every day.
An amazing number of patients ask me about things that they have seen on Infomercials. They are convinced by some marketing ploy about what is truth.
As a society, "we" are increasingly being subjected to factors that has the average person's opinion being swayed on a daily (or even hourly) basis.
People should really look into what they are believing and not just take others opinions for fact.

Apparently, the "average" person is actually far below average...

There really is no "mean". Everyone is above or below "average". And, in general, I'm currently a little worried about where the US population falls. _________________ '93 K1100LT
