| Does anyone have any pics of a great way to mount a Zumo 550 on a 1993 K1100RS. I tried the Ram ball on the clutch lever hole, I don't like how close it is to the grips and shield? |

I've been real pleased with my RAM mount, once I got rid of the "Aqua Box' that was huge and difficult to read through. (BTW, for sale at a very reasonable price, PM me...)
I got the Garmin cradle and it holds my 255WT very securely and I can position it any which way. Only problem is if it rains, the GPS goes in the tank bag, but that's not the mounts fault, that's my cheap ass, non-weather resistant GPS.

Hey!
What's that wind screen extension?
Does it work?
I ran a straight bar of aluminum 1/8" stock across the top of the 2
windscreen holes.
I want to up just another inch, but I do not like the way the GPS peeks over the top of the screen. _________________ 1993 K1100RS that I'd rather be riding FAST!

That's the "Laminar Lip", smoke color, an expensive piece of plexi-glass that does little to change the airflow, it was about $85. The only real benefit I've found is that it does smooth out the airflow a bit, when following behind large trucks, SUV's, etc, and when passing large trucks from the opposite direction on two lane roads, it does reduce the "slam" air effect somewhat, but mostly it's decoration. Nothing like the Areoflow difference...

I got a PM request about the RAM mount, and with permission to re-post, I sent the following...
It's called the "twist and tilt" mount. Here is an Amazon link with it, ignore the "aqua box" part of it.
http://www.amazon.com/RAM-B-181-AQ6U-Medium-Motorcycle-Magellan-Devices/dp/B002GPPJZ8
And try this chart,
http://www.ram-mount.com/Portals/0/Skins/NationalProducts/pdf/twisttilt.pdf
BTW, I can postion it so that it does not hit the screen at full tilt, but it does somewhat obscure the fuel gauge which I don't mind, as I only occasionally glance at it to verify what the odometer is telling me.
I'd like to post this in the thread as well, if you don't mind....for the benefit of others.....

Here is my K100RS with a Garmin StreetPilot 2820. The Garmin mount for the zumo 450/550 and the zumo 660/665 attaches the same way.

The mount for my GPS on my K100RS is from http://www.gadgetguy.net/. It is CNC aluminum and pricey compared to a RAM mount. I have one for my 2004 K1200GT mounted in a similar position.
I don't like RAM mounts. _________________ ====================================

Looks really great, Robert!! I had not considered mouting a GPS on my K1100RS, but seeing this mount made me think about it...
The two bolts of the mount, do they "replace" the ones in the top of the windscreen? I mean, no need to drill; take off the two standard bolts and put the mounts' in their place? _________________ Carlos

GadgetGuy.net makes many different sizes for different motorcycles. The length of the cross piece and the size of the mounting screws/bolts define which motorcycle to use it on.
The two "bolts" are 5mm and a bit longer than the stock ones at the top of the windshield. They come with the mounting hardware. The ones in the picture are 8mm and are for a difference motorcycle, '04 K1200GT. _________________ ====================================

I'm using the same gadget guy mount on my 93 K1100RS to hold a 550.
Only difference is I got the black anodized one.
So far very happy with it.
