google for the park: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=2854+Park+Blvd+24354&sll=37.171856,-75.977752&sspn=0.011934,0.026951&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=2854+Park+Blvd,+Marion,+Smyth,+Virginia+24354&ll=36.881062,-81.525722&spn=0.02729,0.047507&z=15
http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state_parks/hun.shtml#parkmap - scroll down to "PARK MAP: Click here (PDF) for a map depicting the park's facilities." Of course, you can't click here - but that is where you want to click for the PDF of the park map.
That's about the best I can do for you, Supercat1 - I can't find a link to an online map - although it seems like they used to have one. _________________ Jim

No, Gwen - you were right - the cabins don't have addresses... Just the park office. _________________ Jim

Good morning all...
Say...Shogi ! Just want to give you a heads up. From the NH Delegation, John and the 2 Kiwis will be leaving 'on time' Wednesday morning... BUT I still have a "k" in the shop and cannot get it until Wednesday midday. So looks like I will be a day late unless I decide to ride thru the night which I have done before ! So looks like a Friday arrival for me at the worst. What cabin am I in by the way ?? Really looking forward to meeting everyone and comiserating about the " hi & low " of "K-Bike" ownership !
Very best regards.......// Ernie-NH _________________ AMA,, American Deaf Bikers

well I finally figured out the kansas city delegation's door prize -- three bottles of the best bbq sauce known to man. One of the few things we do really well in kc. _________________ (formerly) 1993 k1100rs |

Keith - we're not all that far from Marion and a grocery store. I imagine there will be a shopping trip or two.
You'll need to bring a sleeping bag and towels - you'll be on a couch. _________________ Jim

Since we are over the max for the cabins, I suggest that people go directly to the cabin. If everyone stops at the office, they'll know we are over the limit - and we'll have a problem.
We're in cabins 1, 10, 12, and 13.
google for the park: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=2854+Park+Blvd+24354&sll=37.171856,-75.977752&sspn=0.011934,0.026951&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=2854+Park+Blvd,+Marion,+Smyth,+Virginia+24354&ll=36.881062,-81.525722&spn=0.02729,0.047507&z=15
http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state_parks/hun.shtml#parkmap - scroll down to "PARK MAP: Click here (PDF) for a map depicting the park's facilities." Of course, you can't click here - but that is where you want to click for the PDF of the park map when you're on the website. _________________ Jim

Ok, Steve and I have discussed this a great deal.
And the bottom line is I will be coming to HM!
See, I was working 2 jobs, one FT at the hospital, the other at a nursing home PT.
I have to quit working at the nursing home due to things I can talk about at HM. This sudden loss of income plus a few unexpected expenses put me over a financial barrel.
I can't afford to go to NYC to see OTG , but I can squeeze in HM.
(No worries Jim, I'll bring my own sleeping bag and stuff)
It's all good, even if it's half of what I wanted.
As the Rolling Stones say, "You can't always get what you want, but sometimes you get what you need".
Now, if a follow this right, I need to bring some cooking pots and a skillet and some utensils?
Could some one bring a Coleman Stove to help with the cooking?
Or has that been covered already? _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore

I believe the kitchens have pots and pans and cooking utensils - let me pop over to the website and check.
Good to know you can make it.
We're out of couch space, I think. Unless there is more than one couch per cabin... _________________ Jim

Gwen,
Paul, Darryl and I say.... GREAT about you being able to come to HM! (yeah, we have the two Kiwis staying with us for a couple of days- really nice guys.) We will be there Thursday afternoon.
I can bring a single burner Coleman. Consider it done.

No - no need to bring pots, pans and cooking utensils - those are provided. Between the four cabins, we should have enough of everything. No, take that back - there won't be enough flatware... _________________ Jim

I posted this before. For those of you who missed it - once again - there is no need to bring cooking appliances or cookware:
Cabins have:
Kitchen: Refrigerator, stove, coffeemaker, dishes, dishcloth, a few dish towels, silverware, cooking utensils, pots and pans, microwave oven, toaster, clock radios. Also includes rustic furniture and linens (one set per person for four people). Cabins are climate controlled (heat and AC). Bring food, dish detergent, coffee filters, coffee, salt and pepper, nonstick cooking spray, extra dish towels, soap, extra bath towels, board games or cards. No dishwasher, telephone, TV, washer/dryer
Living area: sofa, dining table
Bedrooms: beds and nightstands
No grills
Fireplaces
Picnic tables
Firewood is available for a fee. Overnight guests receive one bundle at no charge.
One set of linens provided per person; linens are not replaced daily.
These cabins have open porches: #1-5, 7, 9, 14-20.
These cabins have decks: #6, 8, 9-20.
That said, we are not far from civilization and the grocery store - we'll be able to run into town for whatever we need. _________________ Jim

Out for this one. My truck desided to drop the trans on the way home from the lake yesterday and cost me a small fortune to get it and the boat towed home............Thanks AAA. So hopefully I will be able to attend the next gathering. _________________ Amateur radio operator KB3TKP

I don't believe Ernie has a cell phone- (his hearing disorder?)
BTW, is it buggy there? Should I bring some insect repellent? _________________ John & Cathy

The bugs are pretty tame up there this time of year, it's still early spring up there.
Scott Anderson is in SC and will be coming here to VB tomorrow evening and then we'll both be heading up on Thursday. We'll likely get up there aournd 5 o'clockish if I don't make any worng turns! _________________ Steve
