|
|
Hi Folks,
I dropped in to Autozone to pick up some Mobil-1 15/50 oil (getting harder and harder to find BTW) for the K75RT and saw thyy had a big sale going on... Five quarts of Mobile-1 and a Mobile-1 oil filter for $29.99. Considering the oil is about $8 a quart and the M1-102 filter is $13 it is a heck of a deal. I think the sale goes on through Monday.

The M1-102 fits the K75?
Just did a change (twice) when replacing the oil/water pump last month, but my son was a Boy Scout.
Thanks.

Jim,
I have used the Mobil 1 (M102) filter for my last 3 oil changes- go for it.
(and clean that bike up while you are working on it )

The K75, K100, K1 and K1100 bikes all use the same oil (and fuel) filter. A downside of using aftermarket oil filters is that you have to buy the oil cover o-ring and crush washers separately (though the cost is only about $1.50.) I bought a few sets my last time at the dealer.
Personally I prefer the Bosch 72161/3330, followed closely by the Mobil-1 M1-102. I would avoid anything currently made by Fram. _________________

I always buy the crush washers, filler cap O ring, and filter cover O ring from an engineering supply company. They were dirt cheap and I got enough for the next 1/2 doz oil changes.
Its a pity the Autozone in SA dosent do offers like your branches. _________________ ******************************

bought that same oil from o'reillys for like $3 a quart. was originally nearly $10 or more (can't remember exactly from the receipt) but it was on sale. i believe it has been discontinued if the oreilly website is to be believed. i may jump on this sale though just to have some extra around! _________________ (formerly) 1993 k1100rs |

Scared me there! I just called Mobil (1-800-443-9966) and asked, the 1-Gallon 15/50 jugs have indeed been just discontinued but they had a change of heart and now have no plans to discontinue the quart size _________________

Hah, I would love to take credit - I think it was more the Porsche crowd that changed their minds
The guy did laugh when I asked, I think I am not the only one to have called. _________________

if i had a passion for the oil i used then maybe i would care more. but i only bought it because that is what i saw duck suggest. and it was cheap at orielly's. so it was just a happy circumstance. otherwise i might have gotten some castrol. or dug harder to find out what everyone else uses too. _________________ (formerly) 1993 k1100rs |
