As per another thread, I was cleaning the bike the other day and armourall'd the seat by accident (too many beers), now it's as slippery as a brides fanny. Does anyone know how I can clean it back off to get some grip back?

I had to brake really hard the other day and now I have a very high voice.....it really hurt!

amour-ing will get you every time Very Happy

But seriously, try Windex or denatured alcohol - try them in a small patch first and wash off with whatever mild detergent you have to hand. I believe Windex contains both ammonia and alcohol.

windex or alcohol will dry out leather and isn't very good for vinyl, either.

I'd recommend simple soap. And once you're done, treat it with leather creme (if it's leather).

It's the original seat so I assume it's vinyl? I could go outside and check it underneath but I'm too lazy. Will do tomorrow.

Drikko,

I had a pal with some compulsive cleaning disorder [ I'm NOT guilty ] and used "Cockpit Shine" on the interior dash and plastic bits in his car - including the steering wheel............................................

The very best stuff you can use on Vinyl is Vinylex - I LOVE this stuff! It is a bit more expensive but it has -no silicon- or any of the other crap that most of the other Vinyl treatment stuff does. It returns vinyl and plastic to its original finish, not a shiny, oily finish of most others. It also works wonders on black plastic and rubber. It is packed with UV-protectant so it keeps things from degrading further.

I became a firm believer when it brought back a stiff, faded and chalky dashboard on my old 325iC to literally looking (and staying looking) and feeling brand new (and stayed that way.) I use it everywhere on my cars, bikes, etc.

Although it is not so hot for vinyl I would also go the Windex/Alcohol route, it is the only way to get the silicon off, then follow immediately with a few treatments of Vinylex.

I also use the awesome companion product, Lexol, on leather. Amazing stuff.

I armoralled the seat on my K75. It was so slippery I almost crashed. I went to Mc Donald's and got some Mc Griddle Syrup and wiped it on with some napkins.

It's a perfect seat now.

I was looking at a beater K100 down in CA over Xmas. Some college aged guy was selling it to pay his rent or something. When I went to look at it I noticed that he'd Armor All'd the tires, including the tread! Shocked

The trouble with this is the ants will carry the bike away!!

I'll see if we have something similar to Vinylex over here.

Thanks all.

I use Pledge furniture polish on my vinyl seats. Works great although I avoid the lemon version as it attracts bees.

JO uses Pledge on his helmet visors.

Very Happy

Hi Guys.....

Re: "" Ernie - are you suggesting we ban Brickzilla? ""

NO ! Absolutely not... I am thinking that he needs to be taken aside by someone, confronted if you will, and given some VERY basic instruction, ie: overview, and background information about "the world on 2 wheels" BEFORE he really gets in trouble, or hurts himself and perhaps others ! Just the way he approached the purchase of that first K should tell us something.

Just my $0.02 on Mr. Brickzilla !

very best regards all.......// Ernie in NH

Try brake cleaner, it shouldn't harm the material abd it will remove all slippery stuff.

Picked up some of this the other day at Pep Boys. You are so right, this stuff really works. Cleaned the seat up nicely and really made the black plastic look sharp.
