Hey guys (and gals), I am seriously considering an Aeroflow windshield for my RS. I would really like some better wind protection when cruising at 60+MPH.

I've done the searches, read the reviews; I'm just a bit torn between the two different heights they offer.

Their website says standard height is for riders "up to 6 ft. tall and the tall height for those over 6 ft. tall."

A&S says the extra tall is for those over 6'4".

I'm just a hair shy of a true 6' tall, so I'm leaning toward the standard height, but I don't want to sell myself "short", bad pun intended.

Opinions welcome...(other than getting an LT!)

Possibly, but I do have barbacks installed that raise the bars only about an inch up and back, not a huge amount, but it makes a slight difference.

I've worked on the wrist weight issue since I got the bike, tried Duck's Yoda riding techniques, to no avail. I just try to relax my grip, sit a bit more upright and let my wirsts rest often. The Throttlemiester lets me rest the right hand often and the left hand is easy to rest, so it's not been a huge problem for me.

I would just like my head to feel like it's not in a wind tunnel all the time.

You might try a different helmet. My Arai Quantums work well on the RS but my SparX helmet is noisier and I notice the wind much more.

I've had a few different helmets on this bike. an HJC CL-15, then a Nolan N102 modular that was comfortable but noisy, I figured from the modular design. Then last year I got an HJC IS-16 which is very comfortable, but the noise is still there, although a bit less than the Nolan. I wear ear plugs or my Koss earbuds when listneing to music, but it's still a wind blast no matter what.

It's also the buffeting and head whipping I'd like to do without when at highway speeds, this is why I'm condering the Aeroflow, and then I can also remove it when slower speeds and warmer weather are at hand.

I just don't want to look through it, but over it and am concerned about the height. I wish I had checked out Klinker's more thoroughly at HMI.

Since we are already in this thread, let me add my input.

First of all- this thing will transform your bike into a much more comfortable place to be for long distance, high speed riding- ESPECIALLY for 2-up, even with Nolan helmets on. I can travel at 70+mph with my visor completely open.
While our N-com intercom is good for communicating up to about 50mph without the Aeroflow, it is great at any speed (with any type of background music playing) once the windshield is mounted.

While I prefer lower speed backroad travel without it mounted, if I (or both of us) spend longer periods in the saddle, I stick it on and I/we do arrive without that "spent the day in a wind tunnel" fatigue.

One thing to keep in mind when you decide on which height to order- it isn't as simple as under or over 6' tall. Look at our picture again. I am 6'-2" and Cathy is 5'-2" but our torsos are nearly the same length- matter of fact when we sit next to each other we are just about eye-to-eye. My legs are the difference- my 35" inseam. (actually in the picture you can see that the seat step results in her helmet being slightly higher than mine.
When I am seated and looking forward the Aeroflow is about 2-3" below my horizontal line of sight.

Now I probably have you REALLY confused about which height to order, huh?
If it will help you, tomorrow morning I will have Cathy measure my seated height from the bottom of my bottom to my horizontal line of sight. And if you need actual bike measurements (like top of the gascap to the top of the Aeroflow in a vertical line- or anything else I can measure) I could do it by Friday. Let me know.

Thanks for the input SugarHill, it does help. I'd like to get one exactly for the reasons you mention.

Wow, you've got some long legs. My inseam is about 32"

My seated bottom to eye level is 31 1/2", just a bit under yours.

So maybe the Tall would be better....

Yes OTG, I always wear ear plugs or use my Koss ear buds when listening to music, they fit inside the ear with a foam plug, but they don't seal quite as well as the regular earplugs.

But it's not as much about just the noise; it's the overall wind fatigue on long rides.

For all the reasons mentioned in the previous threads. This will transform your RS.

Can you get the taller one & then trim it if it's too tall?

I LOVE the look of my RS. The Aero Flow does not detract too much, but, I take mine off when it warms up. The other day it was 24 degrees on the way to work, helmet shield half open at 80 MPH. I look 2 - 3 " over the top, no watery eyes.
My new Shoei RF 1,000 is quieter than the HJC-15 I was using and minimal to no head pull when you check the blind spot.

GREAT protection in the rain as well with these, well not LT great, but oh so much better than stock.

This evening I will measure from the gas cap straight up to the top edge of the Aeroflow.

While our torso lengths are pretty close, the thickness of our seats could make a difference. Once you have my measurement, you can sit on your bike and see exactly where the top edge of a "tall" would end.

I had the short and sent it back for the tall. This was on my K100RS with C bars and a corbin seat. Totally transformed the bike. Rode it the other day without....won't do that again, unless it is short and it is hot out.

They say the standard height is 7.5" above the stock and the tall is 10.5" above.

I sat on my bike in the riding position and held a tape measure up from the top of the stock windscreen and 10.5" seemed to be right at my line of sight, while the 7.5" seemed several inches below. I'm thinking the tall might be too tall.

Joeangi, if I can ask, how tall are you?

At my physical this year I am 5'9" in socks, 185 pounds

I just went out to my bike here at work. Yup, the Aero Flow is 7.5" over the stock sheild.
I have a Corbin seat on the bike and the shape seems lower than the stock seat.
I honsetly cannot tell which sheild I have as it came with the bike. I am the third owner.
The PO only rode it 2,200 odd miles in the 8 years he owned it. I got it with I think about 26,000 miles on it. The first owner had spline lube, valve adjust ect all done.
He neglected teh brakes though and although the resevoirs looked clean they were leaky in no time. I rebuilt both front & rear.

I almost took off the AF this morning as it was a nice 45 degrees. A cold front was on the way in per the news so i left it. Glad I did, currently it's 31 degrees and very windy. Thanks to the AF, my Synergy jacket liner, & Shoei RF1000 helmet, I'll be warm & safe.

I just measured actual height. The gas cap is too far back so here is what I found.

I measured from the gas tank (about halfway between the gas cap and the handlebars) straight up to the top edge of the Aeroflow. 22-1/4"

I'm 6-1/33 inch inseam and find the tall version to be about perfect. If you are around an inch shorter, the standard may be too short.

Cool seeing rydor's old Interlagos Blue Brick next to mine at HM II...

or was that HM I? 2008, anyway.

As far as standard vs. tall, at 5'10'' the standard version worked well for me. Good protection, plus I was able to see over the top of it.

I'm 6'1+ and I seem to sit high on the bike. The tall screen on the K1100 with the lower (stock) bars works even better for me. The 1100 has the corbin dual sport, but the k100 has a corbin dual tour, and I think that brings me up a hair.

Just an update on this post. I was lucky enough to score Sugarhill's Aeroflow from his RS, now that the new Connie has taken it's place.

I finally got it mounted today and got to go for a ride after resolving my fuel pump issue.

I'm happy to report that the Tall version fits me just fine, at a hair under 6'. I look about two inches over it while riding. That translates to about 15 ft. in front of the bike before having to look through it to see anything closer.

I only went for a short ride (about 15 miles) on rural roads at about 45-60 mph.

Impressions, wow, this thing really blocks the air! It was a bit chilly today, in the upper 50's (F) and I was cooking in my winter jacket with the liner. There was very little air flow around the torso, even at speed. this will be great for winter riding.

It's a little weird having this piece of plastic up into my field of view, but I liked the quiet and the rediced air flow, maybe not so much when it's 80 + degress. But that's what great about being able to take it off when it's not needed.

I was trying to come up with an as discreet mounting solution as possible and thought maybe the clear Dual Lock would be better than the black with white backing...wrong! It looks awful. as shown here.



I am going to go with the 3/4" dual locks that my laminar lip uses to mount with, they are black with a gray backing that is better than the white or clear. I have a set on order and will replace these as soon as I get the new set.

So far I really like the setup, I just have to get used to it.
