I'm switching over to synthetic oil in the tranny and rear drive.
Thinking about Amsoil.
Hanson's BMW recommends I use 85/140 in the tranny and 75/90 in the rear drive.
What say you guys?

Hi, Ragman,
The trannys are pretty bulletproof and seem to work fine (even a bit better) with 75w140. With the problems BMW has had with their final drives, though, I try to stick with what was specified - 90wt GL5 hypoid oil, in the final drive. Since I can't find 90wt, I use Castrol Hypoy 80w90 GL5, conventional gear oil. _________________ Ride Safe,

In my K100RS I used it from 10,000 to 135,000.No problems due to the oil. Changed every year.
The K1100RS have done the same again from 10 to 100.
Always clean & can not remember the last time I had to top up if any. _________________ Yamaha TX650A
